I plan to be at booth 58 most of the two days. I'd love to meet you in person if you can come introduce yourself.

I expect there will be about 3000 in attendance.

It would cost $340 to take my family. I’m not really sure how the average family affords such things, and I would be uncomfortable spending that much on such a thing.

It’s not exactly a family event.
I doubt it’s for profit either.
Unfortunately, that’s simply the cost of renting such facilities.
You should read the fine print. If you want to go and can’t afford it you have the option of only paying for what you can afford.

Yes, take advantage of that offer. There is still plenty of room and time to register. https://www.fbep.org/attend/events/reach/

It depends on what age your children are and whether they are accustomed to sitting in meetings as to whether or not it is a family event.
Many families take their children. Some want their adolescents and teens to be exposed to all sorts of ministries.
The building is huge so I am sure there is a corner where younger children could play with Legos or color in books.

And then there is an outdoor rooftop terrace on the third or fourth floor just outside of the meeting areas, where children can run and get some exercise. It looks like the weather will be in the 60's next week.

As far as the comfortability on spending that much money...
If a person is going to just go to see and be seen, then it is probably not a good use of resources.

But if a person recognizes a need for clearer vision, and greater effectiveness in God's kingdom, then I see it as being worthwhile.
Many schools, non-profits, and churches are led by boards and oversight personnel who at the best are not fully engaged, and at the worst they are dysfunctional. I think all such leadership teams and anyone willing to serve on such leadership teams can really benefit by attending a meeting like this. There are lots of things to learn about administration, board governance, and working well on a team. This can be helpful for foremans and supervisors in the workplace as well as for business owners. It is even helpful for committees to function better in the church.

I look at it as educational, both for me and my family. I also see it as a personal development expense. If I can be more effective in my work, or if it influences my children in the direction of ministry to others, over a life of serving themselves, then it is a very cheap investment.

This is an excellent way to connect people and ministries. In looking over the topics, there is one that caught my eye.

"Why Aren’t More Mennonites Dying? Stephan Gingerich"

I am wondering the context of that topic.

Another topic, which sounds good and much needed.

Mentoring Men at Home and Abroad Duane Weber

But the presenter?? Really? All I will reference is: Second Corinthians 4:5 "For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake". There have been so many times that line is crossed between preaching about yourself and ALL the good you do, versus preaching the Lord Jesus Christ.

I am not quite following. What is your concern?

My wife and I will be at booth 23 much of the day on Friday. I would enjoy meeting any MNers in attendance.

I am sorry, I was a bit vague.

I have sat under this minister’s preaching and teachings many times. Let’s just say that he is very adept in making his good deeds, his wife’s good deeds, his children and grandchildren’s good deeds known before men.

Matthew 6:1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven”.

I am not offended or concerned, but when an excessive number of personal pronouns and personal antidotes that reflect upon your own or your family’s good deeds and not on the Lord, when preaching, it is revealing and redundant.

And I know I probably will be chastised for posting this. But so be it. It is what I observed for many years, and we heard him just this past summer and nothing has changed.

Good news for parents with children.
Nursery & Playroom
Room 312, in the west wing of the building, is
reserved as a nursery. Additionally, Room 309 is
designated as a playroom for young children.
These rooms are not staffed. Parents should
remain with their children.
