other things the young know nothing about

carbon copies
slide projectors and slides
manual windows on cars
card catalogs
computer punch cards
reel to reel tape recorders
pay phones

Although vinyl records are making a big comeback with the youth. My daughter found my old records in the attic and is now the coolest kid in her friend group as a result. I had to drag my old turntable out for her. There are also vinyl record stores popping up, not just selling old records, but new ones too.

Also polaroid cameras. Kids these days love them. They like the fact that the images are often flawed (lens flair, out of focus, under-exposed, etc.) because that makes them more "real"

I am amused by the new turntables that come equipped with USB and Bluetooth.

Are the stores brick and mortar, or just vinyl?

That gives me an idea for a phone app which degrades camera images to make them look like they came from a Polaroid.

That was the premise behind Hipstamatic, which briefly was very popular and then failed. Instagram came next and was wildly successful.

Wrap it up and give it to a HS student as a gift. Seriously. They think those things are super cool. You can get the film on Amazon but it isn't cheap.

My kids are in their 40s and can't vote for any- they've done them all. :)

I have a few high school students. Will this elevate them to the "cool kids" level? 8-)
