Never have I ever.... Part 1

Post by steve-in-kville »

Already can guess how this poll will turn out given the current demographics here on MN.

Vote and discuss. Part two will follow in the next day or so.

(Some context: this is from a list that was forwarded to me. I'm simply copying in the same order that appeared)

I look at this list and I'm at a bit of a loss. Not long after we were married, we had a word processor, which was a glorified typewriter. It had a phone jack that coupled with a modem, I could send and receive emails, which was just coming out of its infancy.

Never listened to vinyl as an adult. My parents and my in-laws had record players, but cannot recall hearing anything.

Beyond that, I have nothing.

Thanks, Steve, for making me feel OLD! I can't check a single box thanks in part to a grandparent who saved everything and gave us the pleasure of trying out "antiques" for the kick of it. The typewriter and record player were by far the most popular. We wore them out in a few years just over the holidays. My children feel deprived because they never got to play a record backwards.

Ok, so all those things were things I used as a kid or young adult.

I cannot say no to these either:
Listened to a bakelite record.
Listened to a recording on a cylinder player.
Listened to a record on a wind-up phonograph.
Listened to radio programs broadcast on short-wave.
Listened to a recording on a reel-to-reel recorder.
Listened to music on a player piano (in a home - my grandparents).
Listened to a crystal radio.
Talked on a CB radio.
Talked on a two-way radio (non-CB).
Talked on a crank telephone.
Talked on a satellite telephone.

I CAN say no to this, because I have never ..
Listened to a recording on a wire recorder.

Wife: you’ve even made me end up feeling old. Jukeboxes are the only way I recall having listened to vinyl records.

You should’ve added potato radio. Just saying.

I still occasionally listen to Mennonite acapella vinyl records.

Can’t submit the poll since I couldn’t check any of the boxes… I’m not that old, either

My grandparents had a handheld police/fire scanner that took crystals. Wish I knew what happened to that. All the frequencies have long been abolished long ago.

In my teens, CB radios were popular among certain crowds. I see them making a bit of a comeback among the younger generations, for reasons unknown.

Used various 2-way systems, even had my GMRS license way back in the day.

I can't vote since I have done all those things, so I my daughter answered instead.
