My Internet Filter & Christianity and Traditional Medicine
My Internet Filter & Christianity and Traditional Medicine
My internet filter objects to certain words used by the Bible to refer to some unacceptable medical practices. In another thread, I attempted to mask certain words to see if I could fool the filter but am blocked again.

Are you tied to a particular filter?Hats Off wrote:My internet filter objects to certain words used by the Bible to refer to some unacceptable medical practices. In another thread, I attempted to mask certain words to see if I could fool the filter but am blocked again.

can you request approval of the page? I know my church allows that.

I am tied to a certain filter - I think I will approach the internet committee and see what the chances are of getting a few of these words opened up.

Do you happen to know which one they are using. Is it a "port sniffer" or is it DNS based with a white/blacklist?

Re: My Internet Filter & Christianity and Traditional Medicine
I am a total dummy - I just know that the filter is effective. Our church has an internet committee consisting of some lay members and several deacons. I think I will ask them if it would be possible to allow some of the words related to questionable healing practices. I would like to do more research on the topic. I know it stops anything sports or you tube related but there are also words that cause a block.

Re: My Internet Filter & Christianity and Traditional Medicine
It is using a proxy like Zyxel or Barracuda, running from a blacklist of some sort. You have that proxy/appliance address loaded in your web browser. Do you know who is in control of that list? Funny thing is that sometimes stuff like this will filter out the information that warns people of such things.Hats Off wrote:I am a total dummy - I just know that the filter is effective. We don't have a designated filter, but OpenDSL seems popular in our circles.
