Some people are busy sweeping other people’s houses when their own is in need of a deep cleaning.

Re: In the Name of “Mission Work” book about CAM/Mast
I think Jeriah stole from his fellow Anabaptists.Josh, you said that CAM is not a person. I believe that statement is quite obvious, and I would also suggest it is equally obvious that you cannot victimize an inanimate object or construct. CAM therefore, based on your own logic, is not, nor cannot, be a victim of anyone. If Jeriah stole hundreds of thousands from CAM, then I would call that theft, due in large part to (at best) willful ignorance or (at worst) extreme pride.
His fellow Anabaptists gave money for mission work.
His fellow Anabaptists trusted CAM to use their money wisely.
I think Jeriah likely sat through lots of revival meetings in his church setting. I'm guessing that when he was involved in sin, he felt guilty. During times when he was not engaged in actions with minors, he felt innocent. What he didn't realize was that with each foray into sinful actions, he was deceiving himself. He and his church people were also not aware of what pedophilic behavior does to a person and what it says about a person. I don't know whether he even felt guilty when he began stealing from his fellow Anabaptists.
I would be in favor of someone coming up with a list of Anabaptist ministries who:
1. do have thorough vetting and accountability procedures
2. do have good training for their employees on how to build good organizational culture.
I think it would be nice to have a list of Anabaptist churches who do have a good church culture as well. But not sure what to do with the list. There are good people in churches with bad culture. Somehow there needs to be a way for individuals to welcome accountablity and good leadership values and be able to go into missions, even if their church does not fully welcome/embrace these things.
I wonder if there could be a public way to vett present and would-be ministry workers. I wouldn't mind my name being on a public list somewhere and anyone who knows me could raise objections to me being in ministry. You would of course get some people with grudges raising objections, and those would need to be discerned, but you would also likely get some helpful feedback on folks who are corrupt.

Intense ones.
Ones where the speaker would admit he heard stories of rape and incest in the back prayer rooms and the people were told to forgive, forgive, forgive and beg God to reveal what they did to make themselves a target.
It is at surface an intense call to Godliness. At core it is rotten advice and a shelter for perps.

It's displayed at the bottom of the home page. At that particular time, I think the CAM issue had just made headlines.ABC 123 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:49 am?steve-in-kville wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:26 am Not to steal anyone's thunder, but remember this?

That’s rather disturbing. I have never sat thru revivals anything close to that.ABC 123 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:56 amIntense ones.

I wouldn’t last long as a member at a church where such talk was tolerated from revival preachers, either.

The Revival Meetings thread is a year old. Maybe someone has something to add there.Josh wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 12:14 pmThat’s rather disturbing. I have never sat thru revivals anything close to that.ABC 123 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:56 amIntense ones.

That would have been a year before, so it would have been old news at that point—if something can really be really called old news when it still has the power to spawn 24-page threads. Nearly all those visitors were probably bots looking to spam us or do some other nefarious deeds. If you watch the statistics section you’ll sometimes see a wave of them come through, just never quite as big as then, I guess.steve-in-kville wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 11:29 amIt's displayed at the bottom of the home page. Re: In the Name of “Mission Work” book about CAM/Mast
I often don't say much on these boards but I read often. When this subject comes up, I come alive with passion. What I said about the revival meetings is true. 2 of the men who contributed to that "spiritual climate" died in recent years. Maybe the church cleaned up their theology in more recent times. 2019 was not that long ago, so probably not.
