Re: Canada "emergency use": democratic or not?
We are considered a democracy. It is true that the Givernir General needs to sign legislation before it becomes law. English monarchy basically has nothing to do with our laws other than that.

I would expect that the monarchy is extremely loath to ever intervene in Canadian affairs for fear that they get tossed out and the country becomes a republic like Barbados just did. That would be a serious weakening of the status of the monarchy to lose the largest and most important commonwealth country.

It’s puzzling, but, with convoy leaders formally SILENCED, EXILED, and FUNDS FROZEN, the public will not have benefit of anything beyond lib accounts+opinions, loads of opinions. (Return to lib status-quo.)
So, reports will be (at most) suggesting “all were equally bad.”
Which is often a last-ditch cop-out, typically harking from the losing side.
i appreciate the read. ^^^

“ 'Freedom Convoy' Leader Done With Organizing After Night in Ottawa Jail”
https://www.newsweek.com/freedom-convoy ... il-1680906
Canadian "Freedom Convoy" leader says his "organizing days are over" following a night in an Ottawa prison.
Chris Barber, 46, a prominent leader and organizer of the "Freedom Convoy" protests, was arrested on Thursday alongside fellow leader Tamara Lich. Attorney Keith Wilson told The Globe and Mail that Barber was being charged with alleged counseling to commit mischief, obstruction, and counseling to commit obstruction.
By Friday night, Barber had been granted bail and released after spending a night in the Ottawa Police cellblock, according to the Ottawa Citizen.
The now-former leader was released on the condition that he leave town within 24 hours,
return to his residence in Swift Current, Saskatoon, and never support the protests ever again verbally, on television or online.
His release was secured for him by defense lawyer Diane Magas.
That’s not all!! - - -“due to issues” receiving crowdfunded money.Barber runs a trucking business that employs four other truckers and was able to post the $100,000 needed for his bail.
His business operates across the Prairie regions of Canada and also in certain parts of the U.S.
He is also required to remain at his home until his case has made its way through the Canadian justice system.
He will have to check in with Ottawa homicide detective Chris Benson periodically over the phone and is banned from communicating with other convoy leaders, including Lich, Daniel Bulford, and Patrick King. The latter two were arrested on Friday.
Should Barber's case go to trial, according to the Ottawa Citizen, it is expected that the Crown Attorney Office in Ottawa will seek a two-year prison sentence for criminal charges, including "tormenting" the Canadian capital and inciting other protestors to engage in illegal behaviors.
As he heads back home, Barber has been allowed to help other truckers heading in the same direction pay for gas,
due to issues receiving crowdfunded money.![]()

I advise every Canadian to listen to this interview, even if you are not political. This helps you learn what laws you live under.

Informative. Compelling. Encouraging. ^^^
Is there a way to prevent loss of this+many videos shared on the convoy?
So much is deliberately shut down.
This video contains many important points.
i tried to revisit the fleeting moment when (i believe) he described (elder) Trudeau as “almost” ready to accept the proposed charter, BUT, powerful others present prevented this. (i think of this) as a literal or figurative “gun at the head” of politicians. Thugs.
Thus, politicians “forget” their obligations to their constituents, to save their own necks.

i have no idea who this woman is, but her language is damning+final, without opportunity for defense of the accused?

i happened to look up the source of that video earlier today. he had several videos on his home option. all but one removed.
(i didn’t view any of the others.) i have no idea who he is.

i suppose we can wonder, if this forum were based in Canada, it would be no more.
