Re: Fact Check: CDC counts deaths as COVID even if that was not the cause
I have never been priviledged to know what was documented on any of my patient's death certificates. That information is not routinely given to EMS in our area. So I'm not sure how an EMT from your area would know if the death certificate were falsified, unless he/she by chance were a know it all blow hard. And i have no time for that specific character flaw.

Accurate statement.
Inaccurate statement.

That’s your opinion. We could sit here and argue all day about who’s right or wrong.

In a small community, people get very curious when a specific covid death shows up, and in the situation I’m talking about, the family was the one that first brought it to light. In a sparsely populated tight knit community families of deceased and emts often are in touch.justme wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 1:34 pm I have never been priviledged to know what was documented on any of my patient's death certificates. You seem to just want to argue with facts. It’s widely known that cause of death for covid is vastly overstated, whereas cause of death for flu is vastly understated. When there is widespread distrust and misinformation, one of the best ways to find out what is really going on is what people close to the situation tell you first hand.
So people I know in real life who are nurses, doctors? I’m very much interested in what they have to say.
Who knows, maybe someone in a car accident really did die of covid. Instead of arguing with the facts, you seem to just want to argue with me, complaining I’m an “expert on everything”, then complaining the EMT violated some law (which he or she didn’t), then complain there’s no way an EMT could know about cause of death.

to use the same wording the expert did:

Many researchers believe COVID deaths are quite underreported. The first example that came up on a quick search says this:
I've seen this sort of estimate regularly. The "widely known" stuff is usually among those who have been listening to gossip, right-wing opinion shows, or Facebook memes."The US population remains a long way from herd immunity even with millions of new infections each week," the researchers wrote. "The number of estimated COVID-19 deaths is also remarkably more than the reported deaths in the US through November 15, 2020, supporting the conclusion that approximately 35% of COVID-19 deaths are not reported." https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspec ... r-reported

That's an outdated article, and their conclusion is based on estimated deaths. Estimates as we know, ended up being very wrong.JimFoxvog wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 9:47 pmMany researchers believe COVID deaths are quite underreported. So this was a one time event. And you heard about it 2nd or 3rd hand. And EMS may or may not have even played the role you insinuated in the beginning. Family is not bound by HIPAA.Josh wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 6:18 pm In a small community, people get very curious when a specific covid death shows up, and in the situation I’m talking about, the family was the one that first brought it to light. Why do i even bother? You would think i would have learned by now that you go for the shock factor.

I’ve actually heard it more than once, but preferred to focus on where I could consider it more reliable.justme wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:48 amSo this was a one time event. If we’d like to discuss something else, here’s something I learned first hand: we had a nursing home with 33 people in it. They all got vaccinated. Within a week, 11 died. 3 more died a few weeks later. At least 11 were marked as covid deaths.

If true, that should certainly be verifiable. Can you name the nursing home and say where it is?
