It has never once been an issue or topic at any church I have ever attended, Menno or non-Menno.
Interesting! I've been in 2 different Menno churches in my lifetime and it's been an issue in both!
Not conservative churches. But I’ve probably been to several dozen different Menno churches across the country over the years, mostly MCUSA or their predecessors, or CMC churches. I’m not aware that facial styles were ever an issue at any of them. Some people had beards, some didn’t. Just not an issue either way.
It goes in waves in the general population I think. In the 40s and 50s they were rare. In the 60s and early 70s beards were more common (as was longer hair). In the 80s, 90s they were less popular. We seem to be in a new beard wave inspired I think by pro athletes and sort of an urban hipster look. But that will probably fade too.

People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
I'll go with Romans 14 on this one. If you do something as unto the Lord and are not guided by the Holy Spirit to do differently, then live by your own convictions as that is what we will be judged by someday by the Lord.

First time I ever saw "hipster" here on the forum. Made me chuckle a smidge.
It’s actually kind of weird seeing guys around cities like Portland essentially dressing similar to Amish with beards, hats, and suspenders but with more tattoos.

As a rule, facial hair is a natural feature of masculinity. If some men choose to appear effeminate, I suppose that's their choice.
So Mennos that don't wear mustaches look feminine?
The main thing that gets my goat(ee) on this topic is groups that actually forbid facial hair for men, or that require some high bar of personal conviction before they'll let you grow a beard. It's something that is so clearly a feature of the natural order for humans that I think you can argue they are seriously out of line in forbidding it.
My college didn't allow men to wear beards without special permission because they were too much like hippies.
However, the topic of "to beard or not to beard" doesn't rank very high in important in my opinion.
