As opposed to haggis, steak and kidney pie, bangers and mash, and spotted dick?

I will be the first to admit that not all of my homeland's dishes make the mark. There are comfort foods that are just as much about sentimentality in taste (such as beans on toast or bangers and mash).

I will also confess to becoming partial to the American South's biscuits and sausage gravy. That is one proper meal.

I actually can’t “get” the appeal of sausage gravy, but maybe I’ve never had good homemade stuff. On the flip side I’m very much in favour of Vegemite in toast.

I just googled that on my work wifi and amazingly didn't get flagged.

I love biscuits and gravy. It just doesn't love me back. Another is chipped beef on toast. A local diner has hash browns covered in sausage gravy, which is fantastic, but again, I feel like I have a brick in my gut for the rest of the day.

If a local diner would offer a full English breakfast, I'll be the first in line. We make that at home for various holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Brunch works better on those days.

I never heard of Vegemite and had to look it up. Of course it should never be confused with Vitameatavegamin.

It’s actually good but mentally I can’t overcome the idea of eating suet in a dessert.
