Vote early and often, but it will be totally ignored. Big money is running the show. 8-)

I like the way it is now. In fact, I can't remember the last time a thread was locked or even edited.

I've been participating in online forums since '99 and our mods here are pretty easy going compared to many other forums. I will admit that when the big 100+ page CAM thread was winding up that stuff didn't get edited out. That thread pushed the envelope here on MN.

Have the mods ever banned anyone? I couldn't say they have...

Twice when we were MennoDiscuss, but I ban people daily. Spammers who do not get past the two step registration process. 8-)

I assume moderators would remove posts that contain:
  • Obscenity
  • Pornography
  • Threats
  • Anything that might endanger a participant, e.g. posting someone's bank account information
Is that true? Is there anything else that would be removed? What about false slander about another participant, e.g. what if someone claimed Robert is ... well, you know, something outrageously bad that is clearly not true but someone might believe, is there some limit to what someone could say without being removed?

What if someone persistently engaged in false slander against some Mennonite church here on MN - how would that be handled?

I think people keep doing this against my church, but I don’t want to see them censored. Let their voices and opinions stand on their own.

I disagree with this post. It should be removed.

You are asking the wrong question.

Mods shouldn't remove posts that they disagree with.

But they should curate the forums and remove posts that violate the established community standards for this forum. I assume they exist somewhere but I couldn't find them in the 30 seconds I poked around the FAQ. If they don't exist then perhaps some agreed-to community standards should exist.

We had that on MennoDiscuss. I have that on a forum I moderate.
