A favorite pastime of mine is sitting around a table playing board games with friends and family. Something we now enjoy with our children, teenagers still enjoy gathering round for a good game. I'm especially fond of Euro games. Curious how many MN folks are familiar with my favorites.
Puerto Rico
Caylus
Acquire
Agricola
Splendor
Tigris and Euphrates
Bazaar
And Chess, of course.
Board Games
Re: Board Games
We used to play Acquire by the hour and day. Haven’t for a long time now. Never heard of those other games you listed. Chess excepted.

Re: Board Games
My friend who has a collection of Spiel des Jahres games tried to interest me in Splendor, but I found it rather boring. Maybe I'm just too conservative to appreciate the collection and display of gems.

Play them all except for Cayless, Tigriss and Bazaar.
We also are big fans of Seven Wonders.
We like splendour because it is a fast game to learn and the expansion games help to keep it interesting.

I don’t have any of them, but I do enjoy Ticket to Ride (as easy to learn as Monopoly, but way better), Santorini, Citadel, China (a lot like Ticket to Ride), Cacau, Catan, Carrcasonne, etc.

Re: Board Games
I used to play Aquire a fair amount and liked it. Haven't played it now for a decade or two. I still enjoy chess. My most frequent chess partner was my son who was killed last month.
