What is the specific content that you regret is gone from MD? (intent is nostalgia, not whining or finger pointing) I'll go first...
Generally speaking, it's a big ol' shrug for me.
1. Any content related to connecting with people in real life. ie: Guess Who I Met thread, etc.
2. truthseeker's and sullymusic's post. I miss connecting with them in general. I bet they are having a grand time in the presence of Jesus.

Re: What Do You Regret Is Gone From MD?
This question reminds me of an experience of many years ago. It was night time in Porto Velho Rondonia (Brasil) (with sundown at 6:30 PM or so, that doesn't say that it was particularly late, but just very dark.) and I was typing a letter to my parents. I was working on our Kaypro II, and the screen on those systems were dark, and the letters were florescent green. I'm a relatively slow typist, and I was even slower then than now. I had been working on this letter for around 45 minutes, and I had not saved it. Then the power went out. The screen on the Kapro did not just immediately go dark, it sort of faded away. So there I sat in that totally dark room, frantically trying to read over what I had written, to try to remember as much of it as possible, as it slowly faded away into oblivion.

I backed it up once, but could only back it up on the existing server. Since all was lost, the backup was lost too.lesterb wrote:Did nobody keep a complete backup of the data on MennoDiscuss???![]()

Good thing our salvation didn't depend on MD... "All is lost".Robert wrote:I backed it up once, but could only back it up on the existing server. Since all was lost, the backup was lost too.lesterb wrote:Did nobody keep a complete backup of the data on MennoDiscuss???![]()

My dear great-grandmother-in-law used to recite, "A move is as good as a fire."
This loss reminds me of losing a special library, as-if burned to the ground.
By the time i arrived on MD's doorstep, i'd had to adjust to many of life's losses, some awfully hard.
thus, my username.
Scriptures are literal about this temporal world. And where our treasures need to be.
MD made it to 11 years!
so many memories. what a privilege it was.

I wonder how many friends we have lost in this "fire", who may never find us again, because we have changed our name?Temporal1 wrote:My dear great-grandmother-in-law used to recite, "A move is as good as a fire."

Depends on how long MennoDiscuss.com continues to be a blank page. The longer that goes, the more will get lost and not bother trying to come back.gcdonner wrote:I wonder how many friends we have lost in this "fire", who may never find us again, because we have changed our name?
