Re: My coronavirus meltdown thread
Our county was issued "stay-at-home" orders, effective at 8pm last evening. Like I had a life before hand....

Anyone with a sewing machine and some sewing skills can make these masks. They are very simple and easy to make.steve-in-kville wrote:Amish sewing face masks:

Re: My coronavirus meltdown thread
I heard one of our health ministers (I think it was) say that cloth face masks are 13-14 less effective and therefore not recommended... Bonnie Henry was more interested in plastic face shields printed off 3D printers.Grace wrote:Anyone with a sewing machine and some sewing skills can make these masks. Re: My coronavirus meltdown thread
Face masks were invented during the Spanish Flu by people improvising out of cloth, shirts, handkerchiefs, etc

Re: My coronavirus meltdown thread
I would not recommend cloth masks for high risk environments such as in hospitals. However they are better than nothing if you are wearing them as a precaution when you are out and about.Wade wrote:I heard one of our health ministers (I think it was) say that cloth face masks are 13-14 less effective and therefore not recommended... Re: My coronavirus meltdown thread
I heard on the radio yesterday our health minister say that it is recommended NOT to wear them out even. That it gives a false sense of security and people take more risks- plus it is almost pointless if they don't take extra risks since the virus can be contracted through your eyes anyway. So in BC we have been told not to wear them. Not saying it is right or wrong but this is what our top health official is telling us.Grace wrote:I would not recommend cloth masks for high risk environments such as in hospitals. Anything over the mouth would help contain a sneeze. Perhaps not 100%, but beats the alternative.
