When she started Catholic kindergarten, and her early years, her teachers would sometimes remark, “she really knows the Bible!”
i would hedge. “really?” o.hmm.

i often got to sit in or help in school or other activities, they encouraged grandparents, imagine that -
there were others that “knew the Bible,” too. some more than she.

when she went to public school, she was told right away, “no Bible here!” that was a bit of a blow for her.
she did her best to respect the rules. she was motivated , an enthusiastic student, and didn’t complain.

she was glad to return to Catholic HS as a junior. and has thrived there.
she chose a small (remote) Catholic college. in remote-ish Montana.

i’m not sure she knows what “remote” means. nor “real” winter.
she’s always liked “winter”. i don’t relate Seattle winters with “real” winters. :-|

we’re about to find out.

she plans to do something with music, she hopes to take her cello. (cellos are big.) :-|
a lot of the school’s music is in the basement of the freshmen dorm. that should be nice.

i’ve urged her to participate in choir - it’s mobile!

she used to hum and sing frequently all through her day, i loved it. she has a sweet voice, on the low side, not soprano.
i wouldn’t know how to label it. just that i love it. nice speaking voice, too. in her C school, they routinely had all students reading aloud to the class and at events. no time to develop fears of public speaking!

unfortunately, she was in a community choir where she was told, “your voice is like a goose!”
i don’t think she’s sung again, or even her little hums she always had.

i’ve encouraged her. sad how an offhand thoughtless remark can change things.

surely there’s got to be a place for a non-soprano singer.

anyway. maybe at college:

^^i see a cello there! she might be quite welcome.

i would like for her to find her voice. it was so natural for her, humming her way through her young days.

even from my old Latin, i don’t think SCHOLA SANCTUS translates to anything about the sun. but, ok. :?
poetic license

That is some beautiful singing by the choir. Love it.

Last night i attended my grdaughter’s HS Senior Baccalaureate Mass. In a Catholic Church.
i didn’t before know there was such a thing.

It was very nice, my tears weren’t too much, my grdaughter assured me, i had my fears.

The homily was to the point about the importance of retaining faith after HS, not leaving it behind.
i pray they listened.

No one would have guessed the night before, all these young saints got in trouble for an unplanned, unapproved chaotic Senior Prank - about 150 of them. Mostly boys in this class. My grdaughter came home, late, looking like she’d been in a fight.
i had a hard time sleeping. Her mother expected a call from the dean .. :-| o.no.

It appears life will go on.
i don’t think there were injuries or vandalism. Freestyle furniture-moving was involved. :?
One of her teachers is Samoan, another from Somalia, i presume they’ve got it in hand.

Graduation Monday. :)

she started this week. i don’t see how it could be better, short of a Swiss Guard detail. :)
P.4+ / https://forum.mennonet.com/viewtopic.ph ... 0&start=30

she’s one of 7 new interns for the summer, M W F, 9-1pm.

they started Monday, yesterday they went on a 3 hour hike around downtown Seattle, looking at all sorts of architectural details and structure, esp KPFF projects. i follow KPFF’s instagram page, they appear young+busy! :D

the weeks will fly by, she leaves for college in Montana on her last day of work!

i’m hoping one of the 7 will be on her light rail route. seems feasible to me.
