Mark Twain was good at doing his part.
to clarify my intent.
in my personal experience, when i have identified false gods in my life, it can be deeply painful, even shattering; once done, the "new life" and freedom that comes from "deposing sacred cows" makes it so worth it, like a great weight lifted! even better, once experienced, future false gods have less strength, become easier to abandon.

further, in time, all these myriad of false gods will be deposed, once+for all!

one hallmark of false gods is their inability to satisfy. they.can't.do.it!
John 4:13
Jesus and the Samaritan Woman
…12Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock?”

13Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.

14But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.”…

The intent of this thread is to (bash) other peoples' news sources.
not other people.

so, you're halfway there!

Just keep adhering to the concept of Two Kingdoms and emphasize that God's Kingdom is the only lasting kingdom. There is indeed a ripple effect. I've seen it myself within my own circle, especially when those who like to start arguments try to lure me in: I use the phrase "not my circus, not my monkeys" and the laughter usually lightens the confrontation and the conversations go on to better themes.

Can't trust polls, can't trust media, no faith in politicians (unless they're Trump or Ben Carson), lots of sensational headlines… can't we better than this?
i can identify with not recognizing if i'm on a Mennonite forum or not, too.
when i joined, there were lots of young CM members, interested, welcoming, supportive.
neurotic as i am, i keep looking for them. they are gone.

now this. following every post, rarely a positive word. ever suggesting certain ones do not belong. questioning motives, intent.

so. good point, Josh. please consider it from all angles.

i have tried hard to "explain myself" to your critical inquiries.
i'm done with that.
i will try to ignore your questions, and hope those i specifically address will respond (over your noise.)
maybe at a later date things will improve. for now, no thank you.

In other words: We aren't young, interested, welcoming, or supportive.

I've made quite a few positive posts, including on the topic of sources. Of course, my posts were met mostly with crickets - like when I asked how any of us feel about actually supporting good quality sources (and maybe even sharing news stories and links from them).

It's hard to have a welcoming and supportive atmosphere when the most prolific poster on MennoNet describes my questions as "noise", "critical", and whose general attitude towards me is "no thank you".

There are definitely some things going on on MN I'd like to see stop and be resolved.

there are also a lot of positives too!
Some names I don't really recall from MD are more active and post some really good things... I'm enjoying them being here.
The "same old same olds" are still valuable too.

I'm really hoping we can attract some new members, but remember, when prospect members see spite going on, i doubt they'll want to join.

KB, i can think of little that would "put-off" folks from posting more than self-designated "police" regularly stepping in with the stated goal of ending posts, topics, removing members that do not ”measure up." sadly, different members have shared with me privately they have left because of this .. without stating on open forum their reasons why. it's a serious turn-off. it happened before i was an MD member (i was told privately by a quiet CM member.)

Josh,
i have no ill will toward you. it's hard for me to follow your thinking, you seem to go from "perfectly lucid" to quite critical+aggressive, without a pattern i can follow. this makes communication difficult, not knowing which way your response is likely to swing.

for instance, this kind of thing is hard to understand.
esp just following (what i thought was) a respectful answer to another question you had just above in the same thread:

ay-ya-ya.
i'll leave it to others to sort that out.
it's too much drama for me. it altogether changes the tone of the topic.

why would people want to post, if they thought this kind of thing might greet them?

so, for the sake of peace, i'd rather just withdraw. at least for a period.
no serious ill will. just respectful space.

could you please look in the mirror?
i'm trying to say that gently.

thank you. we all need mirrors, for sure.
i have a dread fear that some have left (MD) because of me, without saying. i suspect this is the case. i've made a few private inquiries, but none have agreed; this could also be attempts at kindness.

i don't believe i've ever suggested anyone go away from MD, even when irritated.
to me, asking for space, which i have, is not the same as saying, "you are not worthy." others may understand it differently.

even the few members who were blocked from MD, this was not my choice/decision, but, i respect admin+mods decisions; sometimes there seems no choice (for them.)

in any event, it's not my decision, nor do i want it!
i hope there's no confusion there (definitely not sure.)

I think I would score many of these much differently.
for me, this is the appropriate thread for this (not credible, or incredible) chart. i agree, the chart is relevant - for this thread. :D

i would go to another thread, or another source, to seek a tutorial on how to assess credibility.
this thread, and, i believe, Signtist's (link above) are for opinions, not "how to do it my way" guides.
Signtist may or may not agree.

wonder how his gift-project is going? :D
he is missed!
