The people like Warren Buffet have the philosophy "Sell when everyone is buying and buy when everyone is selling." Now is the time to buy into the cruise stocks if that is what interests you, for instance RCL at $25 is way more likely to tripple in a year than RCL at $125. That is if you are sure they will not go bankrupt. I do not know enough about those companies though, and don't really have interest enough in them to put time into investigating. I am not too big on company stock, unless it is a too big to fail company that craters but has good fundamentals perhaps, like perhaps Shell oil 2 weeks ago(not sure there, just an example). But we are in the real money making time now. 2 months ago or really all last year was when to sell and that's what I've been telling my friends too for 2 years. And its what I told them in 2007 too. My interest is in precious metals, currencies, energy, commodities, and their futures, I have followed several of them for 10 to 15 years and bought a few but I have only done minimal actual investing, mostly because I have never found a platform that I liked. I have spotted some awesome investments over the years though like palladium, rhodium, oil wheat, and other commodities at bottom prices at certain perfect times. Of course actually investing at that time does take bravery because the markets are scared :)

Is your focus then to make money fast and get rich quick by having the perfect stock pick?

I don't believe in getting involved in filthy stock and commodity trading; I just believe in having mutual funds and a 401K and letting the heathen do it for on my behalf.

I've done a little, but moving stock around every 60-90 days with only a very small amount of money probably doesn't qualify as day trading. Stocks certainly do seem to be on sale right now.

Which is why I think a consistent Christian position is to not hold any stocks or funds.

Assuming they go back up to record highs.

Not really safe to assume anything, but a little diversification makes sense to me. My work does provide a 403b, I've refused to look at that over this time.

No, that is just a byproduct. I am not worldly like that :D . My focus is ultra-conservative investing and I do not trust burrying cash USDinars in rigteous white napkins since they are being greatly devalued. 8-)

I am so impressed. You must be so spiritual lol.
Maybe one day I can become more like y'all and learn the virtues of burrying stuff in napkins lol 8-)

Makes sense. Yeah from my own history, I don't see myself day trading, but the quickest turnover I ever saw was Wyoming sour crude going from $1.25 Monday to $6 Thursday so I for sure woud have bought that and that is why I am considering reopening an account if I can find one I like, but I think I might have went ahead and sold there at $6 since I expect this is not over and I expect oil to glut out badly and run out of storage so the only thing I would hold long term on oil more than a few months is perhaps futures 2 years out. :)

What evidence do you have of that? Prices of everything relative to US dollars has gone down: oil, gold, silver, Australian dollars, New Zealand dollars. Consumer commodities remain cheap or have become cheaper.

How are you going to buy Wyoming sour crude? The price dropped so low because nobody would buy futures in it. Nobody would buy futures in it because nobody could take delivery. Unless you plan to roll trucks to Wyoming, I guess. If you want crude oil, the house I’m staying in has a big tanker of it full of the stuff in the back yard - you could actually get paid to go empty it out.

Ultimately, Jesus said not to lay up treasures on earth. If you have enough money to worry about inflation of the US$, and think stocks are a good idea, you may want to check where your treasures and your heart are.

Yeah I really think we should live like James Madison envisioned, everyone on a piece of land toiling to make our own food and clothing from the soil with our own hands and totally refrain from use of the oil powered industrial revolution and all of its changes. If I could move to a place like that I think I would. The closest thing to that today may be some of the Pacific islands.
I am trying to do a lot of that myself with my garden. We have to make a living in the system we were born into. And I think buying a piece of land to live on for gardening etc is the best investment one can make.
As far as dollar devaluation, Yes my Grandpa bought my great grandpa's land for $50 per acre in 1950 that had been worth $10 per acre in 1920. Grandpa sold 20 acres of it for $500 per acre in 1976. Grandma kept that 10,000 in the bank to her death 2 years ago but today that land sells for over $10,000 per acre so her 10,000 can't even touch that 20 acres. I can provide lots of proof of the demise of the dollar since we left the gold and silver standards. :)
Yes and the reason why the Dow went to 30k from its pre-2008 high of 14,500 is also partly because of currency devaluation and the expansion of the monetary system.
