Venting

(i think) some venting can be useful.
Like all earthly things, it can be taken too far; i believe ^^this guy makes 6 valid points against it.
Is he venting about venting?!
a transcript would be helpful.

well.
my grdaughter is now telling me about load bearing walls, rafters, footings, elevations ..
this is an architectural mentor group, she’s interested in structural engineering.
God have mercy. The things i’ve witnessed in my odd little life.
ACE Mentor Program
https://www.acementor.org/about-us/mission/
AGC
https://www.agc.org/ace-mentor-program- ... on-seattle
What i like best about the group so far:
At their first meeting they were lectured, “We want a long term relationship with you, no matter where you go or what you do, we want you to keep in touch with us.”
wow. in this transient world, a non-transient message. i like.
They meet every other week after school in a swanky hirise nearby, they eat together then work. The mentors are from all aspects of building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
Their first project is on a real house that a tree fell on. (Easy to find here.)
no, i’m not surprised she’s interested and able. i’ve been watching her for 18 years.

i’m most interested in her spirit and soul. no matter where she goes, what she does.
i hope she remembers.

I'm glad she has the opportunity to interact with a pier group like this.

Last week, i enjoyed visiting the ACE Mentor group, parents’ night. Unexpected. i didn’t know it was coming up.
Quite an experience. It was led by several professionals from the different disciplines.
The purpose is to expose students to a range of related fields, a good idea.
A lot of changing happens from this early place, HS seniors. i’m encouraging keeping an open mind, avoid over focus to begin.
Esp for the first 2 years. It’s not necessary, and it’s a lot of pressure.
The parents did most of the talking.
The students were pretty shy.
Typically, parents are NOT allowed in their meetings.
i’m sure that’s best.
It was a nice evening. Very pleasant.

Re: omnium-gatherum part deux
No school yesterday .. we spent the afternoon in ER.
In the morning, grdaughter happily went off for a ski-day with friends, she found clothes that fit, tho snug.
She was more than willing to go with too small clothes, including boots, but was able to pinch-hit with her mother’s ..
i was sooo glad for them to have a no school, no work day, they had finals all last week, they are all under so much pressure from school and work. So, great! Have fun!
Hours later, got a call from my daughter (from work) .. she was nervously saying she had to stop at home to get clothes, there was an accident on the mountain .. What??!! Clothes??!! - Did she wet her pants??!! What’s happening??!!
She’d been hit by another skier, had a leg injury, laceration. Was in an ambulence headed for ER.
We went to ER. 3 hours, in my experience, fast for ER. 40 min for observation.
Large laceration, lower leg, 39 stitches. Part of it into muscle, most not.
Home on crutches - no broken bones!
She was in good spirits by evening. Anxious to show me her bloody ripped ski pants.
And tell me about the ski patrol and ambulence ride. Her friends are traumatized. One of her friends hit her with his ski.
Freak accident.
Happily, a search+rescue guy was just there skiing, he assisted right away, applying a tourniquet.
He and her special friend applied pressure until the ski patrol arrived.
i’m impressed her boyfriend was able to assist. Her uncle would have feinted.
She said he had first aid training. i don’t see how she’ll meet anyone better.

Re: omnium-gatherum part deux
May 2007
after i’d done “everything” for so long, “everything” was done, on the day of the funeral, i was so undone, i knew i couldn’t do it. i couldn’t go. i felt i needed to go to the hospital, i was having a heart attack. for sure.
somehow, i found myself talking to our doctor, our primary who’d walked us through 7 years of “this” and before “this”.
how on earth was i talking to him?! doctors don’t answer phones. he became department head.
anyway, it happened.
he asked me several heart-attack questions then just firmly told me to go; no hospital, it wasn’t a heart attack.
i went. i was ok. i didn’t keel over.
at the cemetery, i got a text.
it was our young beloved hospice nurse (not knowing where i was).
“i’m in the hospital. i’ve had a miscarriage.”
i was there with her and her husband as soon as i could be. her husband and family were there.
i was so glad she thought of us. i still think of her. so precious. she wanted that baby.
our doctor was right. i wasn’t dying right then. strength and ability are mysteries. i can’t. i can’t. yes, you can.
God’s will, not our own.
