You make it sound like maybe they didn't get much for the charter flight business, but that it wasn't worth more than what they got for it "because of real issues."

The topic was started by Ernie in Current Events, 2022, before the Politics subforum.
It’s been full of political discussion throughout, hardly avoidable.

It’s a topic that interests+affects MANY, many have participated in various ways. 329 pages.

It’s up to mods to decide. Many decisions are subjective. i’m ok with that.

Whenever possible, i prefer to avoid conditions that mimic human courts of law. legalism.
i think mankind is better keeping it to a minimum.

Maybe those real issues were persecution, and they and Joshuabgood experienced the persecution as disciples of Jesus. Sort of hard to determine though.

Sorry for my lack of clarity. There were real church, theological, and social issues that emerged with it. I think it was highly profitable.

For instance they receive a ton of negative feedback for being used to fly around high ups in the USA military and veterans affairs. In one case they were flying around a bunch of important Vietnam era vets and folks felt like that was inappropriate for CO's to do. And additionally the Vietnam vet orgs felt it was disrespectful for the USA Feds to use a CO company to fly around army folks rather than army based or adjacent resources.

There was also some real issues and really bad optics with the one leader in the late 90s cavorting around on chartered private flights here and there while the plebians didn't own cars. (They have a vehicle company that owns a fleet in common.)

I have since though in the recent years go to know these folks as they have a school that is beyond beautiful Mt Academy and our school has been back and forth with them some. We gave a music performance at their school and they hosted us...and then we did likewise with them. It was a really nice experience.

From what may have been the very first post in Politics (note the date):

It really is not necessary to remind us.

If the thread as a whole hasn't been moved to Politics in three years, perhaps it won't be. That does not mean Political content is any more welcome than meta posts.

I have to say, this is one of the best posts I have seen in Bunny Trails. We really should have more whimsical, fun Bunny Trails, it just feels better.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Ken, respectfully you just keep banging the same drums here.

I get it. You are all in on the CRT and racism bandwagon.
Public school fail and you want more taxes and less racism to fix it.
Good luck.

The question in 2025 is not what is wrong with public education, it is there anything good left in it?

I know that is an exaggeration but not much of one.

There are a small number of deeply caring teachers and the rest have their hooves in the trough.
My daughter in law is not a US citizen, teaching locally and in the union, all teachers are.
She is amazed how every year they try to find ways for her to vote. She keeps explaining she is not a citizen.
That the union spends their time trying to squeeze in one more illegal vote is simply pathetic.

Nonsense.

By any objective international standards, American public schools are among the very best in the world. And in an apples-to-apples comparison they beat out schools from everywhere in the world except a few Asian city-states like Singapore and Hong Kong. Wealthy parents from around the world go to extraordinary lengths and spend enormous amounts of money to enroll their children in the best American public schools. That is a fact.

That does not mean there are no inequalities in our society and education system. Primarily we have difficulty educating poor and minority students in this country. That is where the gaps lie. The reasons for this are extraordinarily complex and yes, systemic or historic racism is a part of it. But by no means the only factor. In fact, the issues largely aren't to do with the schools at all, but larger societal issues and trends.

And you are misinformed. Not all teachers are in unions. I teach in a unionized state and I'm not in the union. Under US law, union membership and union dues are entirely voluntary. And if your daughter is encountering union get-out-the vote campaigns, by law they must be conducted after hours and without any school resources (school email, school copiers, etc.). It is on her to make sure she doesn't vote illegally. Not someone who is engaged in their Constitutional right to engage in political campaigns on their own time. And if your daughter wanted to vote illegally SHE would have to go through extraordinary amounts of deliberate fraud (which no one else can do for her) and she would almost certainly be caught or prevented from doing so.
