I guess maybe I'm not up to speed on everything either. How do you know that Trump's claim about Harris is false?

1. I’ve read an interview with a friend of Harris who confirms that she worked at McDonalds the summer of 1983 during her first year at Howard.

2. Trump hasn’t offered up any evidence that Harris is lying.

3. Trump lies about his political opponents all the time. Remember when he accused Ted Cruz’s dad of helping assassinate Kennedy?

I don't quite understand it either. I see two possibilities.
1. He thinks this will strengthen the perception that VP Harris is the candidate who has trouble saying what is true, not him
2. He thinks this will strengthen the perception that VP is the candidate from a background of privilege, not him
I'm not his target audience so it's no wonder neither make much sense to me.
Either way it seems to be working for him.

I think you're probably right.

What I don't get is why this is hilarious beyond a "isn't it hilarious for Trump to work at McDonald's" kind of way. I guess so, but I'm also not the target audience.

Doing a small stint at McDonalds is Trump being Trump. It was a photo op, no different than any other politician these days.

Can you imagine driving up at a McDonalds and the president hands you, your food. The thought of that is funny.

It is a photo op and like most photo ops, it was staged. The McDonalds was shut down for most of the day and the people who drove up through the drive-thru were preselected. So it’s not like it was happening to random people.

It’s fine. It’s the virtual memeified version of kissing babies.

Could we either:

1. Move MennoLight to politics, or
2. Keep politics out of MennoLight?

MennoLight seems to be the wrong place to promote political messaging.

If you post memes about immigrants eating cats and dogs, you are promoting Trump's false claim that it is actually happening. If you post memes about Trump in McDonald's, it brings up the false claims he is making about Kamala Harris.

And that means this thread is not "light" and not an alternative to the politics threads. I think it would be good to have a thread for humor that has nothing to do with politics. I'm not sure we need a thread for political humor - if we do, it should be in politics.

Of course it was staged. Every person who interacted with him had to be vetted, even the "costumers."

I just thought it was quite funny to see him in an apron waving out of a McDonald's window. If you did not think it was funny, just move on. The thread name is "I" think it is funny. I also posted him in a section of monkey shots. I guess that was missed. Its okay. I think it is all funny.

I did like yours about RFKJ and the seed oil. That was quite funny.

That's exactly what's funny about it! Trump waving out the drive-thru window!
Until I read all the grousing here about it I had assumed it was a Photoshop or AI generated picture and hadn't connected it with that Harris/McDonalds thing.
