So how should a born again believer respond to these current events in Canada ?

study appleman. not on this topic alone.

as some others on this forum, i appreciate those who can do what we are all challenged to do on earth:
live in the world, keeping God at center.

there are amazing scriptural examples, Boaz, Hosea, and others. it can be done. these men did not get caught up in worrying about what others were doing. they had their hands full with their personal earthly responsibilities AND personal focus on God.

the results were/are inspiring. their lives foretold Jesus and the NT.

Philippians 4:6,7 TLB
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.
O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

It is up to us to have this peace that is beyond human understanding. It is a matter of leaving situations with the Lord in prayer and trusting that He is working out His plans. For we walk by faith and not by sight. The world walks by sight and in fear. We walk by faith, things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

A big challenge for us today is what is seen is in our face through so many sources. If we don't chose to restrict them, I don't see how we will not be living by sight and not by faith. And the result is missing out on the special peace that only God can give those who trust in Him.

Would love to hear more from others on how we should respond to current events. My wife and I talk about this often as we catch ourselves walking more by sight and not by faith.

.. My wife and I talk about this often as we catch ourselves walking more by sight and not by faith.

this could be another topic, it’s one you’re interested in.

i find a lot of practical help reading about Boaz and Hosea. they ignored a lot of the world’s noise which helped them clearly hear God’s voice, in spite of it all. in spite of having other tangible lawful worldly options.

Boaz was a successful businessman. Hosea .. worked in conventional ways (?) .. i don’t recall his work, but i believe he was a working guy, with working friends - who would have questioned his longsuffering with Gomer. Not understanding Hosea was God-centered, first, no matter how Gomer behaved.

These, and other scriptural accounts, provide practical advice on “how to.” :)

If there were a harbor and some tea in Ottawa, those disgruntled Canadians could have a proper, US style rebellion.

sort of.
but these guys aren’t throwing away other peoples’ property. they do not appear intent on harming anyone.

as RZehr said, it’s not something i’ve done or would do.

as appleman said, tolerance is healthy.

not mincing words, as Jesus said, He will judge.

evidently, there was a similar convoy in Italy, sometime in 2021: ??

An aside: :)

Just for fun, i forwarded one of the posted videos to close relatives in WA, MI, and TN, none had heard of the current convoy in Canada. The one in TN is a truck driver, family man, has been for decades.

The mainstream is very effective at airing what-they-choose, with little variety, in spite of 24/7 “coverage.” :-|
(24/7 mind-numbing repetition.)

i have not asked, but i presume they’ve heard about+seen Lia Thomas. (not Canada, discussions best to go elsewhere.)

Personally, i find the convoy in Canada evermore interesting than what the U.S. mainstream chooses to air.
esp in this thread.

So what happens if the protest is bigger than the Canadian army? Is that a problem for the government?

i wouldn’t see why.

power and/or wealth, influence, voicing opinions, are never about numbers, alone.
in world history, the controlling elite have always been a small minority. well, for a time, there was an anomaly of a large free and working class, i’m not sure that’s continuing or will continue.

evidently, the mainstream in Canada and the U.S. are doing a great job of both ignoring and defaming the event, much as they do for the well-attended annual March for Life, so (i’ll be surprised) if anything-much develops from this convoy. it’s meaningful for those involved, but .. the dominant powers are unlikely to be impacted.

others may know more+better.

Hopefully no Christian truckers are involved. 1 Thess 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
There are Christian drivers in the convoy.
