Well, I think it's voluntary. She is asking / challenging us to be silent for a period of time, but not demanding. I proposed a similar thing a while ago in PMs with Bootstrap and Ken. Boot and I were willing then, but we never heard back from Ken. If you're willing to participate and don't feel coerced, I think that would be a great idea, but as a general rule, as a man I don't like to be someone calling for silencing of women's voices.

From history, justme was a good “contest” moderator, i’m kinda remembering how some MD challenges played out.
(That may or may not be relevant to this.) i don’t recall anything quite like this.

To repeat, i try to follow admin-mod direction.
justme wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:38 pm i'd like to do an experiment, and i haven't talked to anyone about it. at all.

i'd like to give $70.00 each to Josh, Temporal1, Ken, and Bootstrap
they will need to be completely silent on mn for one week. all 4 in the same week. with a specific start time, and a specific stop time.
No posting, No hearts, No private messages, no 2nd account, NOTHING.

if one person breaks it, no one gets anything.
if one person other than Josh, Temporal1, Ken, or Bootstrap brings me proof that even one of the 4 has broken the rules, that one person will get $70.00, and Josh, Temporal1, Ken, and Bootstrap get nothing

the purpose of the experiment is to see what mn is like without the posters who are most at each other's throat. i would like to see if other people start posting if they know that they won't be drowned out by certain posters. i could do it one person at a time, but that only means that the others get free time without being set straight by their nemesis.

is this an experiment worth pursuing?

thank you to boot, josh, and temporal.
i'm still waiting on Ken.
it's not a fair experiment to allow 1 person to post if the other 3 aren't.

Is it just me or does it seem Ken hasn't read any of this?

whether he has read it or not, i don't know.
but what i do know, is, he hasn't posted. he hasn't given his thots on the experiment.
and i'm a bit saddened by that. i was hoping to get his participation.

If he's clueless about the experiment proposition, how can you be sad? Just the idea of someone paying me $70 not to post i would probably just keep posting if i knew i "could" do it, but not interested if i enjoy the debates. There are people who join debate teams- i was forced to be on one. Maybe sending him a pm to see this would help. I read very few topics a day- he reads what interests him- so pm seems the answer

I'd be open to the 3 of us willing participants giving it a shot for a week, and seeing what happens.

Perhaps the 3 of us could agree to not respond to Ken's posts during that week?
