What Do You Regret Is Gone From MD?

I had the honor of meeting TNBaer at a coffee cafe one day. And I attended at Messiah Bible School taught by LesterB.

Do you have any idea where TNBaer and family are? How they’re doing? they were fortunate to have him.
i still miss his pics and comical captions of Syracuse. and his various reviews of news stories. he has a certain writing style.
would enjoy reading more.

No, I have no idea where he is now, or how to find him. I had contacted him through MD.

MD seems to be becoming a gathering place of former Mennonites, very liberal Mennonites, non-Mennonite background converts to conservative Mennonites, and right-wing conservative people who aren’t Mennonite but admire Mennonites.

It’s making for a conflagration of people who talk past each other, aren’t interested at all in what the others have to say, and don’t respect each other. Many come here simply with an axe to grind. Of note is that most ethnic background conservative Mennonites don’t feel comfortable posting here at all. So mostly seekers like myself represent that group.

I agree with this, for the most part. We have evolved a bit in the last few years.

But is that really a bad thing?

Yes. I am personally seeing it have a very negative effect on seekers who find these misrepresentations of what following Christ is and how that relates to a person's walk as a conservative Mennonite.

You will find a similar list on personality types on most social media out there. The fad is gone and most people have returned to regular social interactions. It is only us social outcasts that stay around.

Of course, going through a global pandemic has not helped things. It has put everyone on heightened alert and most are quite reactionary.

Plus, no one has asked for the cM section we once had there to be reenacted here.

To quote another ex-transplant (who didn't last as long as I did)... "the conservative cape dress, bonnet, black hat * suspenders way isn't the "Little House on the Prairie" lifestyle that the conservative Anabaptist church tries to sell itself to be to outsiders."

Josh- this isn't a path you want to go down with some of us here on MN. Trust me. I personally don't have an axe to grind. I forgave a lot of people who will never be sorry. That said, don't expect to attract people from "the world", then treat them different because of their pedigree, or hold them to another standard, and then wonder why they leave with a reason to have an axe to grind.

Sorry,,, post like these can be hurtful. I mean no disrespect to Josh and the other members here MN in the same position.

Next question is, who would be allowed to participate in it? What is the test for that? How big your wife's covering is?

(ETA.., unless you are the wife... what, send a pic to Robert to determine your "status?"
