Returning to the (simple) OP:
 An open-ended thread for general discussion of Catholic news, questions.

Maybe i should have put this in Anabaptist Theology and Practice, because that view/response is where my interest is on this forum.

i’m not seeking a Catholic or general Christian view. my error.

This thread is not a request for direction to other forums. (That’s a bunny trail.) :)
If mods want to move those otherwise helpful posts to b.t.s, ok with me.

A good place to find out about the Anabaptist view of the Roman Catholic Church would be the Martyr's Mirror. Generally they considered it a very wicked institution and an abomination.

Thank you. i’ve read about it. i need to read it.
First on MD, continuing on MN, i’ve learned about early church history in ways NEVER discussed before. As i said, i no longer feel i can understand in balance without the Anabaptist experience. The early experience throughout today’s experience.

i don’t really blame folks for not wanting to remember ugly history. but, it should be faced.

i believe this is a more fair headline regarding C Sarah:

“Cardinal Sarah steps down from Vatican liturgy post”

I suspect the differences between Anabaptists and Catholics are significantly greater than the differences between the Pope and C Sarah. I'm not sure why you would want to invite us to comment on disputes within your own church that we know nothing about.

Do we need a thread on The Martyr's Mirror?

i’m not Catholic, nor have i ever been.
Catholicism was not on my radar before i registered on MD.

However, i’ve learned on this forum, esp learning about the lengthy history of Protestant and Anabaptist leaders coming directly out of the Catholic Church - long before the 1500’s.

boot, i’m not inviting you to discuss anything. :)

my central interest on this forum is the more elusive CM understanding.
i’m consistent on that. i’m not a purist, i enjoy many topics, with many members.

my core interest is CM teachings and views. i believe this is what the vast majority of new members initially seek on this forum, and it’s not changed over the years.

i’m not present for non-denom, or ecumenical Christianity.
my poor writing skills may confuse matters.

The conservative Mennonite view is outright anti-Catholic. My church’s confession of faith, which the Amish also uses, literally calls out the practices of the Pope as an “abomination”.

However, most CMs (myself included) don’t go around listing things we find abhorrent but instead look for ways to find peace with even people who have very different or opposing beliefs than we do.

For reference, temporal1, I have had more than one conservative Mennonite tell me I am not anti Catholic enough. One person expressed grave concern, when I said some Catholic people are saved. He was worried I might fall into false doctrine. My views on Catholicism are some of the friendliest you will find in CM circles.

Thanks, Josh.
i appreciate this, and it resonates with the bits+pieces i’ve managed to accumulate over years.

2017 / “Catholic Questions” / Heirbyadoption / Anabaptist Theology
http://forum.mennonet.com/viewtopic.php ... t=ethiopia

i stumbled on this 2017 thread, searching for “Ethiopia.”
This happens to me frequently.
That is, i find all sorts of interesting discussions when searching for something specific.

i just wanted to note this thread here. That’s all. :)

Roman Catholics authorities have continued to this day to propagate lies about Anabaptism:
A violent and extremely radical body of ecclesiastico-civil reformers which first made its appearance in 1521 at Zwickau, in the present kingdom of Saxony, and still exists in milder forms.
