Why so many acronyms get used?

Honestly someone asked for my PID the other day...
At work that is a Proportional, integrative, and derivative gains. Or someone said recently a process instruction documentation.

I had completely forgotten it meant property identification with so many acronyms that are the same...

Often when they are used on here or texting I ignore what ppl r sayin cuz i get confused...

i keep hoping Josh will create a thread for this forum’s acronyms.
he uses lots of them. some duplicate, to take acronym-puzzle-solving to the next level.

i appreciate when folks spell the word out first, then follow with the acronym. helpful!

So many news reports do not lead with location?! .. this seems elementary.
Hey - It’s the internet! - Not your local village newsletter! Where everybody knows everybody.

Once, i was reading along, wondering, “where is this?” .. after digging into the report, finding only a radio station’s call letters, going to google .. eventually, i discovered, this was a story from MALTA.
Come on, people. i enjoy a good mystery as much as the next person, but .. all day, every day?

i have made suggestions regarding locations a few times .. so far, ignored.
i suggested to one local news room, if they started a trend, they might end up with a news award at the end of the year. (truthfully, they might.)

i’m not always ignored.
one news page offers several different news topics each day. they separated topics with commas.
it was a little distracting to read. i suggested semicolons: “semicolons are your friends.”
after a short time, voila’, semicolons are now in use! i messaged them, “you have the greatest semicolons.”
