Steve’s candy bar thread got me to thinking about what makes a snack a candy bar. Is it 90% candy, 10% cookie and nuts? 80/20?

I know Little Debbie’s are not CANDY bars but what about Moon Pies with candy coating and marshmallow filling?

In the interest of creating an acceptable standard that contributes to the safety of world conversations we should really work on this.

Best candy: York Peppermint Patties and Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffles. Skip the nuts, smooth and creamy works best for me. But I do love Kit Kats. I once had a nasty cough that interrupted by nights. Two Lindor Chocolate truffles slowly melting in my mouth seemed to help more than any cough syrups. That smooth inside of the truffles coated my throat.

I would classify something like moon pies more into the cake/pastry category instead of the candy category.

What about Mallow Puffs? They were basically a cookie with a dollop of marshmallow and all covered in chocolate. A one cookie moon pie.
Then there’s that Twix debate.

Wife: I would actually say lindors dark chocolate truffles or extra dark chocolate are my favorite, but I wouldn’t qualify those bars because they are not bar shaped.

Same with moon pies or things like that. it has to be bar shaped for it to be a bar. If it’s moon shaped, it’s a candy moon, and if it’s ball shaped, it’s a candy ball

(there might be something about how you make it also as to what actually classifies it as candy, but I am satisfied with my definition)
