You might say his speech writer has a sense of humor.

What I think is funny in a weird way and is also very telling is that those in congress who support the "No Kings" movement, stood and whole heartedly applauded a king!!

OK, I give up. What's the "King George is here" bit about?

That's definitely funny. No Kingers applauding the King.
I thought both his speech to Congress and at the State dinner were very warm and could even have passed as southern humor around here. I think it's a really good example of diplomacy and statesmanship. I like him.

You might know what the "no kings" folks applauded was the legal limitations on the power of the executive. But "no dictators" might have been a better slogan. But, I too, thought he was funny.

I disagree. That’s just someone’s interpretation. The King’s funny comments talked about history. Not legal limitations.
I like his willingness to joke about himself. His wife seems lovely too.

Wife: I got a feeling that the clapping was quite patriotic and humorous because the British king (five times great grandson of King George.) was basically saying that America was right and Britain was wrong. A bit on balance of power but I don’t know if that was pointed or just because he was talking to the legislative branch. There could’ve been more subtleties to it, but that’s all I really got out of it.

I saw no subtleties implied. He was there to remind our govt (using light humor) that the UK is stronger because of American help. It’s always struck me how by defeating the British in 1783, it made it possible for America to repeatedly help the British in future wars. The irony is a marvelous thing.
