Appears to be a little cheaper than America - around $1.85 in our prices. One interesting thing is that it seems eggs are sold by total weight on the wholesale market there, not per egg like they are here with them being graded by size.

It looks like the price of eggs in Egypt is even less than China. Around $1.35.

Eggs are available at retail now for 99¢. Other food prices seem to be dropping, too, such as fresh fruit, and overall groceries are trailing CPI.

The market is choked with eggs right now. I paid $.44 a dozen wholesale this week for large white and $.55 for cage free brown and I bought more than I should have. Our store retails on white are .99, .89 for 4 or more, or .77 if you buy a whole case of 15 or 30 dz.

My own house is likewise choked with eggs right now. They just won’t stop laying.

Not a good time to be a chicken farmer. I’ve got a friend that had his contract terminated and on the open market it’s brutal. Sold his last load for .01 cent a dozen.

¹⁄₁₀₀¢ per dozen? That's like when coupons used to have printed on them "Cash value: ⅒ of a cent."

Last year was an amazing time to be a chicken farmer, so hopefully they saved up some cash. I've heard eggs get dumped in fields when conditions get like this. Do they have good value as fertilizer?
