Today, I swept the roof.

My father used to joke when I was younger that we needed to do this. I finally did it.

Our shed has a tin roof and it has been leaking really bad. I went up to see what the issue was and it had almost 2" of debris and dirt on it. It was holding the water and it was leaking in the nail holes on the raised ridges. Normally, the water would run down the lower ridges and not even hit the nails. Well, we swept off the roof and cleared most the debris. we will sweep it again tomorrow and clean it really good so I can coat it with a good sealer.

Just made me think of my father and the silly things he used to say. Good memories.

It seems your father has had the same experience with roof leaks as you. Good on him for educating you. I sometimes marvel at the ability of the brain to pull up useful memories. Or then again, perhaps it is the Holy Spirit whispering memories that help us years later.

Today we have ten days of school left (eight days with class, 2 for finals) and I'm so ready. The kids are ready. Everyone is tired and burnt out and DONE.

Nope. That was his way of telling me to go play and leave him alone. lol

My mother would tell me to go play in the traffic.

If I wrote a book about my parents and their approach to things, it would turn out to be a comedy. No wonder I turned out the way I did.

There just might be a market for that sort of parenting book.
