If Robert has good backups, we will revisit this in four years.
This part has been hard-to-impossible. Not typical for this discussion forum. :blah:
i guess this is my 2nd post for today, and, i’ve quoted the OP. Yikes. Bad girl.

[i started this thread to help me keep from violating boot’s rules in his Time Capsul thread.]
 this thread is for everyone’s “Time Capsul” comments, quotes, opinions!

2020 reset:

OK, let's do a reset.
Last time, I had no predictions, I wasn't sure I knew how to read him. This time I think I probably do.

So how about we follow RZehr's lead, make our predictions for 2020, and later [?]
we can each say what we think we got right and what we got wrong.

Once again, let's please not criticize other people's predictions here, and let's not use this for general commentary on Trump or his Democratic rivals, just make predictions here.

 But it's totally OK to say "here are some things I am watching to see how to interpret what is going on".
Does “later” mean after the November election? 4 years later, 2024? or .. ??

My prediction for 2020:
Very different from 2016, when i was CONVINCED DJT had no serious interest in serving as POTUS.

i now believe he is willing to continue, altho i am sorry he feels he needs to. It’s a HARD job, often thankless, and far worse than merely thankless.

i’m not sure he will win. i’m not sure he won’t be assassinated. :(

if he wins, i expect he will continue to work hard under extreme efforts of sabotage.
i do not expect a “ticking up” of power (like we experienced with obama, post 2012).

i am very sorry for libs. :(
only pursuing obsessions to destroy DJT, their leadership has lost their way.

obsession is a mental disorder, not a viable political party platform. (i pray.)
libs are in worse shape now than ever, their formal party commitments to abortion, and other moral travesties cannot win in God’s time, no matter what earthly elections they might procure.

i feel sorry for those in denial of facts in front of them. :(

Sabotage is a squirrely thing. When we aggressively attempt to damage others, we also damage ourselves, self-harm is part of that package. :-|

i could not imagine DJT as POTUS in 2016.
i hope he wins in 2020.

i like many of those i see in his admin, and supporters.
if something happens to him, he’s leaving ample competent leadership behind! (a lesson i was taught by a wise employer decades ago.) He advised me, “Always do your job so that, in your absence, someone else can step in and carry on.” In my early 20’s, i was not thinking ahead like that. i thought it was a good, honorable idea. :D

i hope libs will choose to regroup, rethink their purpose and vision, and put together positive plans for legal U.S. citizens - i.e., the stated job description for all elected+appointed U.S. representatives.

If representatives will do their stated jobs as U.S. Public Servants, “the people” will be free to do as they choose, including following Jesus Christ, if they so choose.

U.S. reps+gov are not Jesus Christ. That’s not the job description. It’s not what scriptures describe.

As a business man who is somewhat out of touch with politics, I think Trump will be like Reagan was and depend heavily on his advisors. If they go astray, then he can always blame them and fire them.

Does anyone remember the fuss about Reagan being elected?
The press was out in right field that time too. But he actually did pretty good. He at least had the guts to do some things that were needed. Trump may turn out to be the same.

Since I'm a Canadian, I'll bow out this thread now. But I'll continue reading. 8-)
i appreciate what lester posted here.
in U.S. history, i believe this would have mostly held true, i.e. overall bipartisan respect and acceptance of U.S. elections, whether you like them or not.

unfortunately, we may not witness this sort of leadership respect for elections again.
lester specified “the elite” and i believe this is the critical component.

it does not seem to be thought beyond question that our financial ship may be righted using confiscated Canadian oil fields (and maybe orchards!),
utilizing enslaved liberal pundits as a source of labor, as a source of national income.

This obviously would not work since experience in manual labor does not seem to coincide in significant concentrations within the liberal commentariat, being more likely occupied by academia and government.

I she and I are dead on.
Who would have imagined this would become the “highest+best hope” for our U.S.? :?

We've got 3 branches of government; "the people" were just successful at rocking one of 3.

These same people are the ones who elect the same congressional representatives over, and over, and over despite the fact that their approval rates drop over, and over, and over. :-|

I think there will be more social ramifications than there will be anything else.

As for the comparison of Trump to Reagan (not going to single out LesterB.. I've heard this said by multiple people multiple times), I'll stay silent. I think the Guatemalan genocide speaks for itself.
i’m not aware of a lot of comparison between Trump/Reagan. Some, not a lot.
i’m glad. Because, i find each U.S. president has been unique; and their terms, the problems they faced, differed. We like to find carbon copies, patterns, i just don’t see it so much in presidents.

(i felt) obama “put wings on” approaches in (relativism?) brought forth in the Clinton years.
which (i believe) plays havoc with any sort of moral approach to any matter, esp in the legal system, also in social/societal matters. when no one is guilty, no one is held accountable or restricted .. well, no one becomes no one.

the U.S. now seems to be full of “soft anarchists,” i doubt this is a constructive path.

why do we have so many law makers who seem to believe they can pass laws that restrict others, but they and their buddies won’t be affected? (to me) this smacks of living in the moment, ignoring all of human history. no depth, no forethought. in these privileged times. wow. :-|
