”Nurse’s video about waiting for sex until marriage as ‘best way’ to prevent STDs goes viral”
‘The best way to prevent STDs is waiting for sex until marriage. Just the truth.’
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/nurse ... goes-viral
January 20, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) ―
A nurse has been bullied online after her social media post went viral in which she stated that
the “best way” to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is to abstain from sex before marriage.

“Nurse Holly,” a health professional with 1.7 million followers on the social media platform TikTok, annoyed viewers, including other nurses, by appearing on screen with the commonsense message:
“The best way to prevent STDs is waiting for sex until marriage. Just the truth.” .. ..
i did not know nurses had social media platforms with millions of followers.
evidently they do, but, are at risk of being bullied if sharing common sense facts that are ..
unwanted? unpopular?

(i thought) that was the point of facts. that they are facts, in spite of popularity.

(This is in “The Homestead” category, ‘cause i believe these are personal+family matters.)

They are also PUBLIC HEALTH matters, i believe medical professionals have an obligation to share and promote good health, with facts. Esp regarding PREVENTION of disease, regardless of description. They deserve support to do that, and protection to be free to do that.

I had a liberal educator once tell me abstinence wasn’t very effective and she then cited various statistics showing how people who claim to be abstinent, take abstinence education, etc. still have high teen pregnancy rates.

This is the same kind of demented thinking that leads liberals to run needle exchange programmes for drug addicts.

That seems obvious.

If you say that to a large number of Twitter or TikTok users, you are going to run into a lot of people who vehemently disagree with you, think you are trying to shame them, or whatever. That seems obvious too. We should expect that.

I didn't see any indication that people were doxing her, sending death threats, calling her vile names, etc. Maybe those things are happening, but the examples given looked more like strong disagreement than bullying. Regardless, if we speak the truth we might also expect bullying.

Because you have posted about the problems of fornication at different times, when i read the OP report, i thought of you. i agree with you regarding the connection with abortion, altho it’s not 100%. Married women get abortions, too.

Another report popped up on this topic:

BBC / “Unprofessional TikTok medical videos 'not the norm' “
https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-51149991

It’s beyond disturbing to read what is being claimed as “the norm” in medical-health education.
If facts are denied, it’s something, but it sure can’t be science.

This would be like saying, “no need to wash hands to prevent spread of colds+flu, or pinkeye.”
It’s a blatant lie. Wash-your-hands!

Some STDs are permanent, HIV-AIDS is deadly.
What kind of (government) refuses to guard public health with basic facts?
And, restricts medical professionals from doing so?

These are all just basic secular society questions.
Christians have additional responsibilities.
