My uncle used to say about colds and flu that if you catch something, get plenty of rest and chicken soup and it will run its course in about a week. Or, go to the doctor and get several prescriptions and you'll be over it in just 7 days.

I am amazed at how many do not build up their immune system. Working in a drugstore/food mart I always ask the question when my coworkers are at work (when sick!) what vitamins or supplements they take to prevent catching what’s going around. Most the time they say nothing but I see how much money is spent on treating the symptoms after they’re sick, which is much more expensive than simply building up your immune system all the time to prevent getting sick. Loss of pay, and medication is expensive. In 11 years I called off 2x due to COVID. Both times I had neglected being diligent with my supplements, hurrying out the door. I realized I must not neglect that step. Other than that I I’ve been around sick people all these years without catching colds and flus, never had a flu shot.

I think your Uncle shared the good old tried and true way to cope when you DO catch it.

I highly recommend this supplement especially during cold & flu season. It came out by Dr. Zelenko during Covid with the “big guns” to prevent and/or fight virus- we get it sent monthly & I’ve heard many testimonies of effectiveness
Thanks, Valerie.
Dr Z was discussed several times in the main COVID topic, i’ll need to review. https://forum.mennonet.com/viewtopic.ph ... start=6280

During that time, i picked up a few forum tips i’m still using, esp zinc, Vit C, Vit D3, quercetin .. also, hand washing, esp when coming home, we were already sold on it, but increased vigilance. i don’t think i’ve had covid, i can’t remember the last cold or flu. i decided to stick with the supplements. i think everyone in my family has had covid, with work and school, hard to avoid.

i had everything i needed to get through it, including chicken soup, i have neighbors that would be happy to help, so far, i haven’t needed to ask. so far, my lungs are ok. i’ve had bronchitis and pneumonia in the past, i don’t want that!

years ago, i was in a dr waiting room, the nurse called me, not by name, saying, “i hear wheezing/pneumonia, next!”

so far, so good.
today was better, Day 4, so, i’m hopeful! 1 week is plenty! :P

The standard of my lifetime. Always praying it passes in a week.

Nearly all of my health struggles haven’t been due to an infection. I have poor health yet seem to have an immune system that’s a battleship.

Indeed. Some immune systems are so overactive as to cause problems by attacking what they should protect.

Well, I can count amongst my blessings that I don't have any auto-immune disorders (as far as I know), unless you count having higher-than-normal inflammation as such as thing.

New research has been appearing in news.

Some kinna flu. :?
Started Sunday. Throat, sinuses, headache, sneezing, coughing, body aches all over. i presume some fever, off+on.

i’ve been fortunate to have bypassed many outbreaks.

Best wishes for everyone as another flu season begins.
I hope you’re doing better!
Oddly enough I spoke too soon & I’m fighting something!
Ears throat chest so I took the Zstack & garlic pickles. I had “stress” today, unusual. It seems whenever I got a sore throat I had been stressed-always started with throat.
Again too I left 2 days in a row without supplements coupled with the stress it made me vulnerable. At 67 you get to know how things roll (or don’t)

i hope it wasn’t the power of suggestion!
Looks like it’s going to take 7 days. Each day has improvements. Then relapses. :-|

i keep zinc lozenges on hand, 1 or sometimes 2 takes care of 99% of sore throats. Minor coughing, too.* Not this one!
Better than any cough drop or other remedy. Lots of water everyday.

Get well soon!

*Careful with lozenges/cough drops when coughing, due to choking hazards.

I’m doing better but calked off work-
The Z-Stack, special tea, elderberry and eating picked garlic seems to be killing it-

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/ga ... ds-and-flu

My Grandma from Canada always said @garlic” when I was a child getting a really bad sore throat yearly, but Mom never tried that. I have a jar of picked garlic in te fridge that is pretty good.

Another thing I discovered years ago tgat I wish Mom would’ve given me was Excedrin for a sore throat. It works!
