(Or YouTube for that matter as well)
Clearly, schools and TikTok do not replace fathers present in their homes.
A pertinent question is what choices and policies lead to these fathers not being present in their children’s homes.

40 fathers go to school
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMN2wzazJ0P/
At Southwood High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, fear and tension filled the halls.
In just three days, 23 students were arrested after several fights broke out.
Students felt unsafe.
Parents were deeply worried.
No one knew what to do next.

Then one father, Michael La’Fitte, had a simple but powerful idea:
What if dads just showed up?

So they did.
Forty fathers began spending time at the school.
They weren’t there as security guards.
They were there as fathers.

(i believe) possibly the single greatest change that would impact ALL of U.S. life and culture, no exceptions, would be correcting this awful error of normalized single parent families, typically mothers.

To the point, IF this had been corrected, THEN, today’s headlines might not be about any president sending NG to help police troubled urban areas. Yes, i believe husbands+fathers present ARE that important for civilization.

i hope for the best.

^^They aren’t starting from scratch.

30-40 years ago, i heard a prominent black male leader (on Oprah) describe how he was part of a group of successful black leaders and businesspeople who were quietly working on ideas of how to effectively help their black community PREVENT a coming disaster of a generation of boys raised without fathers present in their homes. THEY SAW IT COMING.

i have no idea if that earlier effort is directly connected, i think it must be.

The biggest problem?
First place to look would be the MANY profiting from single parent homes. (Mentioned in the Larry Elder interview above.)
It’s all of that AND the literal culture that has changed with it. Today, ALL young people, not black alone, are impacted.

One family at a time.

There are three things I can count on:

Death, taxes, and more posts in this thread about fatherlessness in the black community, with video clips of some conservative black guy talking about how black fathers need to do better or something.

It’s important to me.
i had the privilege of having 2 sets of (great) parents in my life, into my 50’s. (my bio parents, and later, inlaws.)
i miss all of them everyday. i grieve my children and grdaughter do not have them. i’m not enough. it makes me sad.

many do not have close inlaws like we had. i mean personally close, regardless of address.

- - - - - - - -

it makes me sad to think gov policy (with good intentions, of course) damaged families.
there is a ripple effect, culturally, it’s no longer one demographic. all are affected. none go untouched.

when experiments fail, recognize it, begin again.
