These people kind of lost me when they declared having church on Sunday to be the mark of the beast:

http://amightywind.com/teachings/markofthebeast.html

Or their list of prophecies they claim their own prophets are making and have come to pass:

http://amightywind.com/prophecyp/proofbhprophecies.html

More concerningly, they deny the name of Jesus Christ and claim prayers to Jesus won’t be heard, because one of their prophets said so:
Over the last few years we have received Prophetic Words that the anti-christ will use the name Jesus Christ in the Great Tribulation. Once the anti-christ is revealed and is using the name Jesus, YAHUVEH will NOT hear any prayers said in the name of Jesus. How could HE when the anti-christ is using this name and deceiving billions. You must use the Sacred Names of YAHUSHUA and YAHUVEH/YAHWEH in the Great Tribulation or your prayers will NOT be heard.

We are posting the excerpts from the Prophecies that refer to the Sacred Names and especially why you don't want to use the the Name of Jesus Christ in the Great Tribulation. This is a must read. This is very important for the troubled times ahead!

" All things are lawful, but not all things are expedient." Paul tells us. No barbs intended, though it was/is a pointed question. I guess for me it always seems to be a contradiction of terms, especially when we consider the symbolism involved.
I always wondered how ham became such a traditional Easter Feast meal- as opposed to Lamb. I wonder if not only 'cost' but an emphasis about Jesus fulfilling the Law and as Max pointed out in Scripture, how under the New Covenant all meat was 'clean'- maybe it was to emphasize Old Covenant replaced by New Covenant- I can't think of any other reason ham became so traditional.
Because it tastes so good, maybe?
.. as a result of this discussion. i am planning to have lamb gyros for Easter lunch (and, probably dinner.) i plan to get them today.

last summer, my daughter made some delicious hamburger sandwiches, she mixed ground lamb with ground beef, then grilled. she made a butter flavored with leeks and garlic to add.
really lovely. she enjoys cooking and baking.

Lamb is kind of expensive. Ham is a lot cheaper.

In Egypt, when a fundamentalist Muslim group got in power, one of their tools to oppress Orthodox Christians of various kinds was to pass laws against them herding pigs. Some had their whole herd killed. Since only Christians, not Muslims, raise pigs, it was an easy way to oppress only Christians.

With that thought in mind, I don’t get too eager to be anti-ham. On the flip side, I do very much enjoy kosher food when with my Jewish or Jewish-Christian friends who choose to still observe kosher rules. In particular I like breakfast since it’s very light (no “heavy” meats, just fish).

The sacrifice of the Lamb of God wasn't cheap...

I don’t see a principle on scripture that the meal eaten around Passover time should be expensive. The NT in fact rebukes those who brought expensive food and drink to church services whilst the poorer brethren went hungry.

Let me put this in perspective for you Josh, why not, chicken or turkey or beef or fish or squab or...? Why ham?
Think about it, I'm sure you are smart enough to figure it out.
Blessings as we celebrate Jesus Resurrection, the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the earth.

Josh, i appreciate the different points you’ve added about ham.
george began the ham discussion on March 28, Page 29, interesting observations+questions.

typically, when items are more expensive, ordinary people will adjust quantities .. like, my daughter’s method of adding ground lamb to ground beef, or, the gyro i had today, lamb mixed with beef .. there are different ways to skin a cat ..

as for lamb being expensive .. i suppose that’s basically a result of culture (and markets) ..
i see no inherent reason the U.S. is largely beef and ham over sheep. if cows and pigs suddenly were not available, i would guess sheep farmers would quickly thrive. to the best of my knowledge, that “war” was fought years ago in Western U.S. history. cattle farmers got the upper hand.
Bill Rushby might have lots to add to that discussion!

there are advantages to raising sheep over cows. i’ve known farmers who have raised (all of the above) each one has pros+cons. if the market were there, i suppose, sheep production would increase by a lot, the cost of lamb meat, and other products, would decrease.

in the places and times of Jesus, their world was not like present day U.S., or, Australia.
but, for Easter, it’s about symbolism, not about current world agricultural markets.

i would not be bothered about considering a small sacrifice for such an important event.
i don’t believe this would conflict with Jesus’ or scriptural overall intent.

as with all earthly matters, intent becomes the bottom-line deciding factor in Jesus’ eyes.
this can be tough for mere humans to weed through. Jesus’ vision is 20/20.
