Today, I decided to leave facebook. I will delete my account if it is not done for me in one week. I doubt anyone will really care, but I need to stay on the path.

I feel uncomfortable participating on a forum that shuts down accounts form political enemies while leaving others who do as bad free reign. I don't need the grief and plan on narrowing my presence in many places. I started it as a way to stay connected with family but it is just a place to bicker and argue. I get enough of that here.

Obviously, you should do what your conscience tells you to do and removing the avenues of unwanted bickering from your life is always a good thing.

I don’t think Facebook and Twitter removed Trump because he is a “political foe,” but rather because he incited a riot/violent insurrection at the Capitol this past week. That’s a political discussion, however, and I’m ok waiting to discuss it until after the shunning and things have calmed down.

I’m also not sure how your objection fits in with your vociferous defense of private companies refusing service because the message of their customer would force them to support or agree with a message they don’t agree with. As an analogy, imagine Facebook and Twitter are a Christian bakery and Trump is a gay wedding cake....

It has to do with the thousands they have deplatformed Friday then one person. Do you think me that shallow?

I just switched browsers because the CEO of Mozilla said they need to find more ways to deplatorm. I am now using Dissenter. I kind of like it. Their central point is free speech. I am glad I can use their product and support that.

I did not say they should allow them to use their platform, I said I was not going to use their platform because of their business practices.

Where did I say anything about what they should do?

My tablet uses Android. I don't think Dissenter browser will work on it.

Hello GC! I signed up for Parler too. Unfortunately, some people think AWS will ban Parler sooner rather than later.

And Amazon just kicked them off.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.buzzfe ... parler-aws
Amazon on Saturday kicked Parler off its Web hosting services. Parler, a social network favored by conservative politicians and extremists, was used to help plan and coordinate the January 6 attempted coup on Washington D.C. It has recently been overrun with messages encouraging “Patriots” to march on Washington D.C. with weapons on January 19.
