Today would have been our son, Samuel's, 28th birthday. He was killed in an auto accident last December 24. We are remembering him today.
The discussion on cremation brings me a little pain. The accident created a hot fire; dental records were needed for identification. So we had the cremation that started by accident completed.

i’ve been taking a break from “news” cycles this month, the repetition, misery, savage tones+intent, got to be too much.

Another episode from the hospital world.
My friend Lana is in a hospital an hour from here. Today three doctors walked into her room with bad news. "You have a tumor on the brain, which will cause seizures that will get progressively worse and worse." Lana was terrified, but she has a nursing background, so asked, "Are you sure you have the right patient?"
"Aren't you Rose, and isn't this Room 9108?" Wrong room, wrong patient.
Is it any wonder, when I keep hearing this kind of firsthand story from close friends, that I am not a sycophant of modern medicine? (Couldn't resist the pun.
)
