A linguist friend was visiting us once, and it just happened that the house across the street (and contents) was being auctioned off that day. The linguist was very intrigued by the cadence of the auctioneer's voice.

Thanks for the mention T1. Indeed it was 10 years ago last month that I graduated from auction school. I have been quite busy since. I do about 50 auctions per year selling real estate, machinery and equipment, and some other stuff. We do mostly online only auctions.

Although most of my companies auctions are online only, I do work for some other auction companies as a live bid calling auctioneer. And I have been fortunate enough to win some auctioneering competitions over the years including the Mid-Atlantic Bid Calling Competition and the Virginia State Auctioneer Championship.

The live bid calling method of auctions will always have a place, but online auctions are much more effective and command higher prices for most assets.

Neto, I am good friends with lots of the auctioneers at Kauffman's. They would want to know about your experiences. They do offer previews for almost every auction. And they will stand behind their descriptions. You may have to ask to speak with the auctioneer in charge rather than the staff that is handling load out.
