When our daughter was a young teen, helping with dishes, ever in a hurry, i reminded her she was to wash dishes, not baptize them.
As one of 4 brothers before the first (and only) sister, I washed a lot of dishes growing up. But I was probably rather slow in getting it done, because I often used clear glass bowls or glasses as a reverse 'periscope', to see under the soapy water. Also like to wash the coffee percolator center piece. Plunge it quickly over the suds, and they would stream out of the small tube at the top.

Wife that is hilarious. I don’t know if I should even tell my children that’s a thing.

My daughter would have gone -c-r-a-z-y- for that! My son, too. But he would have still washed the dishes.

Oh, I always got them washed. They just soaked a lot longer than if my mom did them herself....

Not Regulation cut though. And, interestingly, missing the "mandarin collar".

What is the definition of a "plain suit"?

Today i was reminded of why i dislike newer vehicles and automotive electrical in them. As much as i would not fit very comfortably in it anymore what i wouldn't give to have the simplicity of my first 97 Ranger back.

With its fuel economy and its standard emissions, plus everyone else doing the same, which would mean significantly worse smog programs in our cities?

I usually buy a set of factory service manuals for each car I own. They often pay for themselves by letting me diagnose problems, even if I don't do the actual repairs (and sometimes I can do the repairs by following the manual).

The pages are numbered by section rather than from beginning to end, but measuring the thickness gives an idea of the relative complexity.
1981: 3.5 inches.
2014: 8.5 inches.
2021: PDF; if printed double sided would take 8.5 reams of paper, around 17 inches.

I've thought about keeping an older vehicle around, at least old enough not to have built-in tracking devices, in case I have to escape without The Powers That Be knowing about it. Persecution is coming, right? But now there's Flock, so even that strategy has its weaknesses.

Just take your licence plates off, like many other people seem to do around here.
