What are y’all’s thoughts about them? I’m not going to say any more than that other than I could never be any kind of vegetarian. I’m a meat guy.

My sister attended one of their colleges for a while. I would consider them Christians who have mistakenly taken on some of the Old Testament laws. They are of the same lineage as Jehovah's Witnesses, believing in the soon return of Christ, even after several predictions have failed.

Been a godsend for my family in Australia. They are one of the bigger groups that promote a somewhat conservative Christian lifestyle. My nieces and nephews all grew up going to an Adventist school, and my niece’s fiancée works at one, as do two of my nephews, in groundskeeping. My niece recently switched to teaching at a Catholic school in order to get more exposure to challenges - the Adventist school is so well run and orderly, and has such a great student body and families who send their children there, that you won’t get as much experience with “at risk” students there.

I would not be aligned with some of their doctrines. It is convenient when they visit us because they go to their own church on Saturday and then visit ours on Sunday.

I had appreciation for a doctor that we used who was a seventh day Adventist.
He had some really weird beliefs, but he was definitely devout.

I appreciate them and their faith on a general level, I have worshipped with them on occasion. An important dividing line for me is their relationship to Ellen White and her writings. Once they begin to elevate these as modern scripture, I begin to feel pretty distant.

I think the denomination as a whole moved away from some of its more heretical teachings quite a while ago.

I don’t agree with all of their teachings, but mainstream Adventism is much closer to historic Christian orthodoxy now. They also tend to take obedience and discipleship very seriously. In some communities, their extra-biblical practices function somewhat like the additional disciplines or rules found in some Catholic orders.

I did a little digging just now and found out that there’s 10 Adventist churches and the 7th Day Adventists is one of them. They also said the JWs are also under that roof too.
I’ll let y’all read more about what I found here because my wife is ringing that supper bell.

My store manager, the colleague I work most closely with, is seventh day Adventist. I think they are mistaken on many things, but I can work with a person of principle on many levels even if they are of a different faith.

To me heresy is no small thing. The New Testament requires dealing with it when it “shows up” and is also listed among the works of “the flesh” in Galatians. At the point it was introduced the church at large had allowed all kinds of heretical & false teaching & prophecies to where it just seems like no big deal- but it is, it’s a poor witness to claim to be led by truth but sected out to be an unrecognizable unified Body of Christ. Wet blanket but I think that is why Scripture teaches to “address” heresy.
