I listened to more of this video. Here, he does not sound so much like he is in the middle of a fight. This seems to be a list of somewhat strange doctrines that are part of one denomination or another's official teaching. Which is, I guess, his point, that official doctrines of denominations go beyond the Bible.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

I was talking about my minister not the guy. I didn't watch the video.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2026 3:22 pmI agree.Soloist wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2026 6:02 am Oh this guy is loud. No one sleeps through his sermons.
It’s just an audio processing thing. Easier to process text then visual + audio
And given our role in weighing what is taught, it’s much easier to read and assess then listen and try to scribble furiously for later evaluation.
And in both this video and the one I watched completely, his voice sounds like he's in the middle of some fight. It's clearly important to him, but it's hard for me to ignore his mannerisms and here what argument he is making with what evidence.

I do appreciate a sermon that keeps people awake ...

There are different ways to keep people awake. If you have good content, that will keep people awake. If you don't, you need to resort to volume.

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

Truth. And shorter sermons that get to the point.

The greatest sermon ever preached takes about 10 to 15 minutes to read.

Wife: Several of his sermons are actually pretty good, and given the fact that he has apparently never yelled at his children or other people, I suppose that gives him the right to raise the volume sometimes on a Sunday morning.
He also does very detailed sermon notes, which is nice for Mr. Soloist, who cannot handle the constant changes of volume, but still likes to know what he says.

The best sermons I've ever heard were almost hypnotic, very long and rambling.

I have heard good sermons that were long and appeared to be rambling, but came back to the original point and tied everything together.

Wife: There was a very good sermon by a very skilled speaker, called a ”A Vision for Warning,”. He talked about how he was zoning out on his drive, and his son was talking beside him, but he wasn’t paying attention, and at some point, his coffee spills all over his lap and his son says he knew it would happen and was trying to warn him. He’s confused and wonders how his son would know that, and his son mentioned he saw the speed bump sign.ohio jones wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2026 2:59 pmI have heard good sermons that were long and appeared to be rambling, but came back to the original point and tied everything together.
Basically, what he was saying was that regardless of a person’s public speaking skills or likability, we are responsible for whether or not we listen to a warning. Maybe they have a voice that puts you to sleep, maybe they ramble, maybe they are a yeller, or maybe they just make so many spelling and grammar mistakes that it’s painful to read their posts, but the warning is true, even if the sign isn’t that eyecatching.
