I think "national park" was an error on my part, it was a state park. And an AirBnB. I posted about these earlier in this thread.

The kitchen in the open air museum is correct, I would have to look through my archives.

Here's the original site, which Max's signature still points to:

For instance, on the home page, there are two photos. Let's find the original photos on the Internet.

This one is the background image:

This is a different picture of the same cabin, which is called The Log House at Cook's Old Mill. It's a different picture, at a different time of year. Note the placement of the millstones in front and other details of the house, which make it easy to identify as the same place:

The porch with swings on the front porch is from a cabin you can rent in North Carolina. The cabin is called A Bear's Den, it is in Blowing Rock:

MaxPC wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2017 4:52 pm This year, the finances need to recover and "moving" costs extra $$. We're snug and we're near family. In fact we've been considering getting a "park model" RV when it's time to set up our dawdy house and get off the road. With all those we've lost this year, it's getting to the point that there are fewer folks to visit: that and at 80 years old I need to be thinking about settling in again.
Max was 80 in 2017.
And now he is 94 in 2024?
Yea, he had his 90th birthday in April of last year.
MaxPC wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 9:01 am Additionally I will be celebrating my 90th birthday in the next month. We have a busy schedule for the next few. May you all remember Christ’s sacrifice for our sins. Amen.
Oh, another data point:
MaxPC wrote: ↑Fri May 25, 2018 4:26 pm It said I was 72. I'm turning 84 soon. I guess I look younger than I am. :laugh

84 in 2018
90 in 2023
94 in 2024

Although he liked to say YMMV, I think he was measuring in kilometerage.

“Soon” could be several years, on a cosmic scale. I am turning 50 soon, in the sense George R.R. Martin’s sequels will be finished soon.

I remember reading this thread at some point, stunned that ( i think ) MaxPC argued that "plain catholics" exist. I interpreted it as the "plain" status/lifestlye is so attractive an ex-mennonite tried to shoehorn it into catholicism,.
