I have been following a podcast that does dramatic reading of the Sherlock Holmes stories I enjoyed as a child. I had forgotten some of the ideas that were popular in that age of scientific discovery like an indisputable link between human physiology and moral character. They truly believed one could measure things like valor, nobility, intelligence and integrity by examining a person's head with calipers. A prominent forehead was evidence of intelligence whereas a prominent jaw unquestionably indicated passion and vigor.

The Sherlock Holmes author was also famously fooled by the staged photos of two little girls playing with fairies in the woods. Something about a new age of technology and discovery unsettles the perceptions of reality.

I am slow to make conclusions about links between demonic activity and extraterrestrials that go beyond normal demonic activity in normal humans. Satan and the forces of darkness are real but not indomitable, deceptive but not undetectable, capable but not overwhelmingly powerful.

This is part of a long sequence where God reminds Job of the vast gap between human knowledge and God’s wisdom. We also see them in Job 2: "The sons of God came to present themselves before Yahweh, and the satan also came among them." And in Genesis 6: "The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful…"

I think there's a lot that we simply do not know. And again, in Job 38, that's exactly what God is pointing out to Job.

The Hebrew term in Job 38:7 is not actually “angels.”

Mal’akh (מַלְאָךְ) = messenger, angel
Bene Elohim (בְּנֵי אֱלֹהִים) = sons of God, heavenly beings

In Job 38:7, the beings who rejoice at creation are called bene elohim, not mal’akhim.

I suspect that an angel (mal’akh) is a heavenly being acting in the role of a messenger, rather than a separate kind of being. But I’m not certain the biblical texts are systematic enough to make that distinction with confidence.

In general, many modern ideas about angels and demons come from later Jewish, Christian, and medieval traditions, which developed elaborate hierarchies and mythologies that go well beyond what the Bible itself explicitly says.

I've seen that verse but I didn't think of it in that kind of context. That's pretty interesting but I think you're right.
