Every case I am remotely aware of with credible accusations of abuse resulted in reporting to the authorities and usually a prosecution. Not the school district shuffling a teacher from one school to another to help them evade prosecution or consequences.
I know personally a former wrestling coach in a public school who was charged with sexually assaulting students and giving them drugs who lost his job but received no jail time. He pled guilty to corruption of minors, lost his teaching license, and received five years probation. It happened ten years ago and he's free as a bird.
Sounds like he was, indeed, prosecuted. Not every crime committed and prosecution leads to jail time. Witness Trump.
If it had been your son who was molested during wrestling class, you might be forgiven for feeling like there was some injustice here.

Perhaps. He might well have gotten a lighter sentence than he deserved. On the other hand, they may not have had good enough evidence to be certain of winning at trial. Perhaps some of the witnesses were reluctant to testify in public. Either way it is a case that was actually reported to the authorities and prosecuted, even if you disagree with the outcome.

On the issue of school teachers, the NYC public school system has two classrooms of 30 teachers that sit and read.
These 60 teachers are pretty obviously to the administration kiddie fiddlers. They cannot sufficiently prove it to press charges or, heavemns above, even simply dismiss them. Attempts to dismiss without hugely proveable evidence is stopped by the teachers unions.

But if they put them in classrooms with ipkids and then someth8nghappens….
So they pay 60 teachers to report and sit and read .

i think i’ve read a tiny bit about this. if you could share more, i’d appreciate it.
unions are adept at keeping bad apples, the incompetent, the corrupt, in active employment, not just teachers, teachers (and police) directly affect so many, including children, the vulnerable, they can ruin lives, they can be life-threatening.

i’m not against unions per se, i’m against any human construct/entity that goes without scrutiny and accountability.

I would make no excuse for teacher unions, the Catholic Church, or for that matter Conservative Anabaptist churches.
I take Jesus words about a millstone to heart.

It should never be underplayed, covered up ,or those guilty to ever avoid public identification so that no one gets abused by one a second time.

The so-called "rubber rooms" went away some time ago. Now teachers are just given administrative tasks somewhere in the district while they await their arbitration hearing. Some are indeed suspected of various improprieties for which the district perhaps doesn't have valid enough evidence to dismiss them. But others wind up there simply for getting crosswise with their administration (maybe whistle blowing) and still others wind up there for simple incompetence or unproductiveness. In other words, just not doing their jobs. So it isn't accurate to say they are all sex offenders or even that a majority are.

Much of this mess is actually the district's fault. They went for several years without paying their arbitrators and a bunch of them quit for obvious reasons and so they haven't had enough hearing officers to actually move these cases forward. For real. That was some years ago. But a lot of this is due to mismanagement by the school district. See: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/i ... g/1946639/

If only. Reality seems to be, it’s a rare thing for perps to be caught with only one victim, only one offense.

Yeah, I’m with you on that. There’s no excuse for covering up abuse, whether it’s in schools, churches, or anywhere else. Jesus’ millstone analogy really says it all—protecting people from harm should always come first.

It’s important to hold people accountable and not let them slip under the radar so they can’t hurt anyone again. Public accountability is a must.

State of Maryland had the “Turkey Farm “ of which my at the time drug addicted sister was an occupant. Did you know that is a disability? Was not that long ago.

Did I know that addiction is a disability?

It is certainly a disease. Drugs can actually change biochemical pathways in the brain in the same way that other diseases work. I'm not attuned enough to disability law to know whether addiction is also classified as a disability under the ADA.
