Psalm 62. Oh my soul, trust in God to the most extreme measure. His love and mercy are the most extreme, beyond all measure.

Colossians 4:2-18 with a focus on these verses...
2 Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, 4 so that I may make it known as I should. 5 Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person.
So many amazing personal stories from the 13 people in the SS circle... about praying for each other as fellow-believers.
1. Why we ask (or don't ask) others to pray for us
2. Who we ask to pray for us
3. How, why and when to pray for others who ask us to pray for them
And then, the most inspiring part - Jesus is our great example of intercessory prayer as our Great High Priest - Hebrews 4
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

Same; in regard to which our lesson commentary informed us that we are to be looking for another coming of Elijah during the end times

I actually didn't even read the commentary. I'll have to go back and read it. With our recent study in the minor prophets, I've chosen not to attempt to interpret the prophecies as they relate to possible future events. Instead, I've asked God to speak to me through his Word and empower me to live a faithful life for Him now. Along that line of thought I was quite struck with the word picture in Malachi 4:2. When we fear the Lord, there is healing and wholeness. Just as the rising sun in the morning invigorates and extends to every corner, Christ healing affects our whole being. The result is just as intense as the young calf being released from the stall. Having grown up around a dairy farm I thought that was a really powerful word picture.

What, you don't relish talking to that age group about girdles?
