My initial response was "certainly not." But upon further reflection, I might change that to "sort of."

Only so long as "principles" are something that fall under the umbrella of "Scriptura", considering that they can be (and often are) used throughout Anabaptist world (more so on the conservative/traditional end of the Anabaptist spectrum) to justify the creation of virtually any literal application, so long as said application can be linked (whether realistically or by claim) to a Scriptural principle...

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

My guess is that most Anabaptists in application follow 'Prima Scriptura' rather than 'Sola Scriptura' although they may not admit to it. I lean toward 'Prima Sciptura' myself.

The problem with sola scriptura is it often mistaken for SOLO scripture, ie "the scripture means what I say."

Early Anabaptists challenged their adversaries to "prove me with scripture that what I believe is wrong." But this did not mean that they followed the Bible. They followed Christ. When we start following the Bible, we get into trouble due to such things as solo scriptura as was mentioned.

The old woodcutter spoke again. “It is impossible to talk with you. You always draw conclusions. Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. You see only a fragment. Unless you know the whole story, how can you judge?"

How would you define the term? (And why Latin? Who "made it up"?)

Let's go off Martin Luther's way of meaning it.

I'm curious if any of them used the authority in the church / church tradition.
