What impact does the NFL Superbowl have on your life?

Post by steve-in-kville »

On a scale of one through five, what impact does the Superbowl have on your life?

I work in a very sports-oriented culture. I would be curious to see how many man-hours we lose between March Madness, fantasy football, and the Superbowl. If its a local team in the playoff's like the Phillies, Eagles or the Flyers, may as well double those numbers.

I gave up on pro sports long ago, so it has no personal impact, but the banter I hear every Monday morning is amusing.

I don't know when it will be or whether it's happened already or who was or will be in it--and don't bother to tell me.

It's a football game. I know that much.

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?

I actually watched the first one on TV. One's enough.

I have watched probably 4 or 5 in my lifetime. I am in my mid 60s.

All I know is that it’s sometime in the first half of Feb. But don’t tell Jim.

I don't think I've ever watched one from beginning to end.

The Monday after will have the most impact, as many of my co-workers take the day off to recover, or they call off sick.

I guess the only impact I can think of, if and when I watch it, is negative. I eat junk food.

As far as pro sports are concerned I watch some hockey, some track and field, some baseball and some golf. Those sports I have participated in over the years. But at my age I can fall asleep watching most anything. :)

For non-pro sport, I participate on this forum which does impact my life in various ways. One of the negative impacts is to join in competitions on subjects that has suspect spiritual value. I think forums are often places of carnal competition. But they also can be places of encouragement and learning and fellowship, etc.

We may or may not watch it, I don't believe I have ever seen an entire SB game. Usually just head to bed at regular time. on 2nd thought one year we had pizza at a friends the night of the SB and guys chose one team so we girls had the other and ended up the team for us wives won so guys took us out for dinner.
We don't do Super Bowl parties. I do remember the Super Bowl was still in the afternoon when I started college- think because to all the guys in front of the TV as went to to dinner, not sure if went to nights during that time or later.
