1 Corinthians 11:3
https://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/11-2.htm
1You are to imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.
2Now I commend you for remembering me in everything and for maintaining the traditions, just as I passed them on to you.
3But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ,
and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.…
In ways i believe God’s Word transcends (even written words/scriptures) i believe God’s designed headship exists, in spite of every earthly attempt to crush it.
There should be no confusion that God tolerates/overlooks/promotes abuse! He does not.
Abuse is sin. Sin always takes a widespread toll. Hating patriarchy/headship is part of the price of sin.
We should (all) be humbled knowing Christ, who is God, submits to His Father, God; He did so unfailingly in the NT.
So. 1) Abuse is NOT the “tradition” referred to; 2) the reality of God’s designed headship transcends all “Herculian” efforts of the world to eradicate it.
My personal life-lesson:
Many years ago, i noticed the gift of power men have in their families. Not just good men! All men. i noticed the undefined, unrecognized power men had, even those in prison, convicted of multiple felonies, heinous crimes! This weighed on me.
i realized, no matter the husband/father, present or not, godly or not, men have decided roles, whether they want them or not, or whether they are competent or not.
Understood or not, this is God’s design. Understanding, accepting, helps prevent confusion. Understood or not, God is God.
It manifests in all sorts of ways. But it is real, and it is universal. Try as they may, Congress cannot alter the fact, “water is wet.”
The burden is great. We are to pray for our leaders. Ones in churches, and in our homes.

Its very rare I "put my foot down" at home and I think its because that are in sync with each others thoughts and feelings. That shouldn't be confused with my wife "wearing the pants" either. There are times that her wisdom is invaluable to a decision.

What if you don’t want a quiet and submissive wife?

Since the third choice says "making discussions" instead of "making decisions" I'll go with that.

I confess to suffering mild curiousity as to whether that was deliberate wording or a slip... Steve?

Why isn’t there an option where the wife has complete authority in the house, family, and marriage, and the husband’s main job is to bring home the bacon and otherwise be quiet and behave? And maybe had some limited authority over the garage, back yard, and BBQ grill?
That is actually what many marriages look like these days and probably in the past as well.

Good catch. Never trust auto-correct
