So you are fine if it's prostate cancer?Josh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 11:59 am If someone who is male or female has low levels of male or female hormones due to a medical problem, taking those hormones might be a good idea.
I am opposed to male people taking female hormones and vice versa when the person is confused about whether they are male or female.

That would be one example - the purpose is not to indulge a fantasy about changing one’s sex.Soloist wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 4:58 pmSo you are fine if it's prostate cancer?Josh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 11:59 am If someone who is male or female has low levels of male or female hormones due to a medical problem, taking those hormones might be a good idea.

Arguably there are some things that could be done before hormone treatment is offered. In many cases, it seems lifestyle changes are often in order first. I guess my question here is- would you consider birth control hormone therapy?Josh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 9:43 pmThat would be one example - the purpose is not to indulge a fantasy about changing one’s sex.Soloist wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 4:58 pmSo you are fine if it's prostate cancer?Josh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 11:59 am If someone who is male or female has low levels of male or female hormones due to a medical problem, taking those hormones might be a good idea.

The poll results are gone, so maybe you'd better re-run this one.

Before 1900:
I have seen a source that says the modern articulation of modesty as a detailed lifestyle doctrine, with precise rules about sleeve length, skirt width, etc., also solidified in the 20th century. Is that true?
- Women rarely shaved legs, armpits, or anything else
- Neither men nor women wore deodorant, though women used perfume
- Bathing was weekly or less
- Hair washing was every week or two
- Bras did not exist

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Before 1900 women wore long sleeves, long skirts and stockings. So bare legs and bare armpits were never visible in public.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Tue Jun 17, 2025 2:53 pm Before 1900:

In the 1920s hemlines rose but women generally still wore stockings so bare legs were not generally seen and so no one knew if you shaved your legs. WW2 changed that because stocking production came to a halt as all silk and nylon was diverted to the war effort for parachutes and rope. And so women (especially younger women) started to go bare legged. The 1950s brought back stockings, but never quite as universally as before. And so here we are today where women rarely wear them except for formal dressy occasions. Although patterned and solid tights still seem somewhat popular in the winters.

I wonder if the razor conspiracy is true with women’s as well.

Worse.
Women's razors and replacement blades tend to cost more than men's.
