On the 1st amendment topic, has anyone read Leonard Verduin "The first amendment and the remnant"? I started twice but got sidetracked both times. As I recall the thesis seemed to be the ideas that underlie the bill of rights, such as individual freedoms descend from the insistence of the outsider church, he calls the remnant, on the division of secular and sacred authority. This contrasts with contemporary movements to capture secular authority for sacred purpose.

This sounds similar to Bender's argument in "The Anabaptist Vision."

The initial design was an American attempt to capture the essence of the walk oriented shopping district the was central in so many antique European cities. The first iterations included things like grocery and medical offices.

In some sense they are not that different from your local Walmart, try singing or holding signs there are see how it works out.
The destruction of public spaces is a bad thing, and Wal-Mart and shopping malls can bear equal blame. I used to be a bit of an “activist” that opposed things like Wal-Mart expansion. Obviously it did zero good, as Wal-Marts are now everywhere.

BEN SHAPIRO / “Do You Trust Your Children With These People?” / -10min

Description:
The National Education Association Teachers Union has created a raced-based trauma blended learning course.
As if classrooms weren't woke enough, they created another way to indoctrinate our children.
Ben notices secular/idolatry religions taught/heralded in gov schools.

Oops.

i failed to add, imho, the best antidote to gov school FAILURES as developed+expanded over decades is:
1) faith and vigilance of lovng parents, and, 2) normalized study of DR THOMAS SOWELL and other black conservatives.
black conservatives merit EQUAL or greater recognition+study in gov schools as other (lib doctrines, experiments, “religions”).
they have no gaudy banners or flags, nor are such trinkets wanted or necessary. no capital letter trickery.

i specify black conservatives because they are specially demeaned and excluded.

otherwise, i agree with (black conservatives) that racial division should be abandoned, not institutionalized+funded in gov policy and funding. For Christians, this recent discussion between Jesse Lee Peterson and Pastor Seymour Helligar speaks volumes:

JLP / Helligar

Pastor Corey Brooks ..

On Page 32, Robert shared questions of T-shirts in public/private spaces.
(T-shirts, banners, flags .. gov schools) .. all related .. i thought these questions were settled in the 60’s-70’s with courts ruling on public displays of flag, bra, draft-card burning. i.e., in the name of free speech, anything goes.

As Ben Shapiro is saying, in HONESTY, there are no neutral-value spaces. That’s a lie.
When one religion, Christianity, is removed, replaced with secular gods, other religions allowed (dependent on fickle+subjective agenda) that’s not neutral-value.

i credit Robert’s T-shirt incident with poor gov school education. with no effort to instruct in balance, conflict+confusion result.
unfortunately, there are no signs of improvement on the horizon - not on the gov policy level.
