Is that a favorite at funerals, perhaps?
Bootstrap wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 3:42 pm Q. What's the difference between a banjo and a trampoline?
A. You take your shoes off before you jump on a trampoline. (Sorry, OJ, it's funnier with a banjo.)
My answer (for the bagpipe version) was, eventually you get tired of jumping on a trampoline.
My typo made me chuckle as Amazing Grace is the traditional "grave" side song

As his wife? Ha.
Well let's just say when he gets all dressed up on his formal Scottish attire he looks pretty dapper.
He started learning after losing most of his vision. Worked real hard. It is not easy instrument.
He's played in a wedding & funeral & church event outdoors. It IS an outdoor instrument,!
Good instrument to strengthen lungs!

He's in the process of trying to make a set too.

It's his heritage (mine too)

One time he was playing at our town square for fun. The judge heard from the courthouse and came out to meet him, somehow local paper to look the picture.

We enjoy the bands-

Neil bought be a kilt, the Scotland tartan, & another with tartan of family name.

People seem to request "Amazing Grave" - - the most.
Thanks, Valerie. i recently learned my DNA is majority Scottish, unexpected. i thought of you.
Do you have tartans for you/Neil? i found the Stewart family, going ‘way back to France (Stuart). My brain is trying to adjust.

Bagpipes are distinctive, that’s for sure. i can see where they would be useful over distances for various reasons, esp contact, and warnings, too. i can imagine they could be welcoming and/or frightening, depending!

Elizabeth Smart
I did some study about Elizabeth Smart’s horrifying ordeal, then learned how with help of her family, she recovered, went to school in Scotland, married and had a Scottish wedding. What a recovery! Kilts can be handsome and impressive.

What a beautiful picture, so glad she recovered so well.
Interesting that your mostly Scottish! Our pastor is from Scotland -
Was that your tartan you posted?
My families have several, Mom is a Rose, my Dad is Scott- both surnames have more than one tartan.
Neils tartan is MacInnes-
Kind of interesting. Strange how often people are surprised by what their DNA reveals

As a wee piper myself, I will suggest that somebody who doesn't want the noise of a nice set of Highland pipes ought to get a set of smallpipes. I enjoy my large set outside, but the smallpipes are much better when it comes to avoiding headaches, especially when playing inside. Someday I'll break down and get a pair of Uillean pipes, but my wife's grace is already strained as it is, lol.

i wasn’t aware of bagpipe playing groups for hire .. or association with Catholics.
i think Catholics/TFP were recently in California in protest of carnal sin. (Cafifornia would be an understandable location.)

Where do you think the idiom "pay the piper" comes from?
