It seems the disciplinary action was the most important thing.
That's really sad. A church should be all about recovery and rehabilitation.
Unless a member has molested or abused a child, in which case the sinner should be thrown to the wolves because it is impossible for him to be rehabilitated....

at least that seems to be the message from quite a few people these days.

Is this Pure Life Ministries program about sex addition or porn addiction? They are two different things.
I think they cover about any sexual deviance. That's my understanding from their website. As far as the above, I'd think one would follow the other, at least in the people I've known to have problems.
This isn't my area of expertise. But my understanding is that they aren't the same thing. Plenty of people read or watch porn but are otherwise celibate or faithful to their spouse. While sex addicts seek out anonymous sexual liaisons and may not actually use porn at all. But probably spend their internet time seeking sex partners on sites like Tinder or out in hookup bars.
When you read what Jesus said in Matthew5;27-30;
"You have heard that it was said to those of old, you shall not commit adultery. But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust at for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If you're right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish and for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if you're right hand causes you to sin cut it off and cast it from you; for this more profitable for you that one of your members perish, then for your whole body to be cast into hell."

With Jesus saying this, how do you see porn fit into his warning?

If a "couple" view it together, what is the purpose?

Like I said, I'm not interested in getting into a big discussion about porn. I'm not defending porn. I was just asking whether this facility was focused on sex addition or porn addiction, or do they treat it all as one in the same even though they are two different things?

i’m not convinced enlisting one’s spouse would get a pass from Jesus.

In the past, so many reports of criminals apprehended, then their devices would reveal THOUSANDS+THOUSANDS of porn pictures+videos. Not a few, thousands of images. A clue about how readily available it is, and, how creepy to think, anyone sitting or standing next to you (or your children) - even in church, could easily have any of this, in any quantity on them, on their phones, etc.

You cannot tell by looking at a person or talking with them, what they’re doing when you’re not present.
Even medical doctors have exploited - children, teens, adults. It can happen so quickly.

Today, there is so much covering up of crime, and normalizing/legalizing crime.
Think of what’s happening in school+public libraries. Gov-sponsored+protected porn specifically aimed at children.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

That's a good question. I'm not too familiar with such facilities.

True. But I've been able to tell if someone is "off" after interacting with them.

I know a person to some extent (might see them once every year or two) who went through the program at Pure Life or some similar place. Apparently they were addicted to prescription painkillers and potentially other drugs, as well as sexually addicted. From what I heard this experience brought the person to the Lord and changed their life and marriage.

While the church should be practicing restoration, and mentoring, there are very few churches that even know how to do that. The ones that are practicing this have a different problem. The one getting discipled doesn't see it as discipleship.

Leading with excommunication and shunning as the first response (the story upstream) probably isn't it.
